Dubai to get eco-friendly mosque
A large, eco-friendly mosque designed to use sustainable energy for up to 18 per cent of its energy and water is to be built in Dubai by the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation.
The Dh25 million mosque will stand near the Clock Tower Roundabout in Deira and, at 4,180 square metres, will be the city's largest, with room for 3,500 worshippers. Jumeirah Mosque, by comparison, holds 1,300.
The building will have solar panels and a water-recycling plant, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year.
