Indian police officer handed over to BSF

NETRAKONA, Nov 25, 2012 (BSS)- Bangladesh Border Guard Battalion (BGB) today handed over the Indian police officer, Barweek K Rongdi Sangma, who was detained by BGB from the bordering area in Kalmakanda upazila of Netrakona district on November 24 last, to the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF).
He was handed over after a battalion commander-level "flag meeting" held between BGB and BSF at the Kalmakanda bordering area.
The operation officer of no 11 BGB Battalion in Netrakona Major Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman told BSS tonight that the flag meeting was held at a place near the bordering pillar no- 1172 in Nazirpur area under Kalmakanda upazila of the district this afternoon.
In the flag meting, officiating Commanding officer of No-11 BGB battalion, Netrakona, Major Mazedur Jabed led the Bangladesh Side while acting commandant of no-11 BSF battalion, India, Sree Rajendra Shing led the Indian side.
The meeting was informed by the BGB that acting on a secret information, a patrolling team of BGB, led by Habilder Abu Taher of the BGB border out post no- 39048 of Lengura area under the
Kalmakanda upazila, picked up the Indian police sub-inspector Sangma, who was in drunken state, from inside the house of a Bangladeshi citizen Jorna Rongdi.
The meeting was also informed that the Indian police officer stormed into the house after crossing 100 to 150 yards bordering areas inside the Bangladesh territory from the zero line.
In the meeting, the Indian side assured the Bangladesh side that they will take necessary action in this regard.
