i am a firm believer in what I call "out of the box" thinking vis-a-vis counter insurgency

it requires closer cooperation between the civvies and the khakis -- or rather as much cooperation as possible, given the totally different cultures and thinking between the 2

it requires more than just bombs and belts of ammo....it requires you to have the locals (the aam aadmi) on your side

True, only if terrorists are the citizen of your own country and has mass support behind them. You can call it war of hearts and minds, used by Indian Army in kashmir.
But why would US make such investment? Will pakistan do if it was attacked by afgan based terrorists?

Yes but they are used as weapons to murder Pakistani and Yemeni citizens...

You can have pretty good information about how US uses its drones to kill ''terrorists''...

I hope the Pakistani and Yemeni citizens who lost their lifes rests in peace and I wish patience for those who lost their loved ones...

It is a gray area. One can argue that the terrorists need to be caught and brought before judge, and only a judge, not US president should decide the quantum of punishment.
The other side of argument is, US is fighting a war and your opponents are your enemy. These terrorists are not US citizens and not on US soil, hence they are equivalent to enemy troops. You dont ask judge when fighting a battle.

I do not see anything immoral in that. This is a technology evolution where the pilot driven planes are replaced by pilotless ones.

Not all technology evolutions are good for mankind, the nuclear weapon is an example. Drone technology is easier to copy than, let say advance fighter jets, and can be easily fall in the hands of a few men in which despotism can occurred. Where as complicated technologies are responsible by larger group of men.

That's my opinion and I stick with it, you are welcome to yours

I'm talking about future drones. Even though drone tech has been around but countries only now just begin to invest heavily on drone developments and because of drone size and low cost, compare to jet tech, I wouldn't be surprise it will overtake the value of jet in the intermediate future. The big different, between a jet and a drone, is a jet is a reusable weapon where as a drone don't need to be one, so you see how potent the latter is.

Oh Well! The drones (armed ones), are predominantly for tag and kill in a foreign location where collateral damage is regrettable but still acceptable. Armed drones within American borders is an absolute No Go...

All is subjetive, cowardliness, bravery, honour, etc. The only thing matters is the result. You could argue that the very act of airplanes in war is cowardly. I see it as hallmark of intelligent, advanced societies to innovate.

Keep that in mind next time you buy weapons you cannot produce. The paragidm will always change. Some societies are the ones who cause the change, and others always remain the last to adapt.

Now we are currently witnessing a cyber warfare paradigm. I wonder how good your capabilities are in that realm?

With a good strategy any given day PAF can shoot any of the jet in American inventory, I may doubt the same for F-22 though. Don't forget they know BVR air warfare.
