NDA's vice-presidential candidate M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday warned Pakistan against backing terror activities on Indian soil, saying "the neighbour" should remember what happened in the 1971 war. He said Kashmir is an integral part of India and not an "inch" of it will be ceded to Pakistan.

Pakistan had suffered a humiliating defeat in the 1971 war that also resulted in East Pakistan becoming Bangladesh as an independent country.

"Our neighbour should understand that aiding and abetting terror will not help them. They had an experience in 1971, they should remember that experience and focus on creating peace and prosperity for their people," he said at the 'Kargil Parakram Parade' here to mark the sacrifice of the soldiers in the 1999 conflict with Pakistan.

The former Union Minister also charged Pakistan with using terror as an instrument of "state policy". "Pakistan is mixing terror with religion. Terrorism has become their state policy. It is an enemy of humanity and has no religion," the former BJP leader said.

His strong remarks come days after the US called Pakistan a safe haven of terrorists.

Naidu also said that Pakistan, which had embarked on the "Kargil misadventure", was now resorting to "diplomatic misadventures" to foment trouble in Kashmir. "It is time all 'misadventurists' realise that India's development story cannot be derailed by such 'shoot and scoot' tactics. We are too strong to get irritated and lose our focus," he said, ahead of the Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26. On that day in 1999, India recaptured all posts in Kargil that had been occupied by Pakistani troops and intruders.

Pakistan has been indulging in ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC), targeting civilians and even school children in one instance. This was communicated by Lt Gen A K Bhatt, the Indian Director General of Military Operations, to his Pakistani counterpart recently.

Naidu said India is a peace-loving nation and never attacked any other country and wants good relations with neighbours but it should be reciprocated.

On July 18, Naidu quit the government and his party to file his nomination for the August 5 vice-presidential election.

We will never forget 71 but we aren't living in past.India thinks that bigger country means superiority over others specially Pakistan.this is not true.even in 71,war created another Islamic republic Bangladesh. It's not a gain.now we can focus all our efforts on one side of border facing India.Pakistan can also break India specially Indian Punjab and Kashmir.they can cheer as much as they want for their past glory but you never know what lies ahead!

What are the Indians whining about, Warning Pakistan?, in reality we Freedom Fighters liberated our motherland, Indians intervened only to loot Bangladesh and recover multiple times their war loses and recover expenses incurred for harboring overwhelming majority of the poor Hindu refugees.

why should we remember? We dont have any territory thousand miles away heavily surrounded by bharat anymore.

it was not even a military defeat, 40, 50 thousand soldiers working in 2 shifts facing lacs of mukti terrorists and traitor bengali soldiers for almost year and then attacked during civil war by enemy outnumbering our soldiers 15 times according to manekshaw.. I think no one stand chance there.

i am proud of my army command who order surrender instead of letting our brave soldiers die in land which dont deserve swaet of our soldier let alone blood.

anyways no one remember a victory of 15 times superior forces who was heavily favoured by geography except bharatis, we know what happened when bharatis faced us in 48, 65, Kargil and 2002 standoff.

Btw its not that bharatis have not tried to stir another 71..

We haven't. We know you owe your souls to us for your role in 1971.

He is wrong. We achieved our objective but did too much psychological damage. They should forget it and move on.

We need a normal rational responsible neighbor.

Lol
Cheeky fellow.
Maybe he meant that India should think twice about its Bengal province which is seeing civil unrest familiar to 71.

Bongladesh in itself is irrelevant. Just a pawn to counter weights here and there.

A satellite state on its eastern border has helped India but not to their expectations.

Lol. Bonglas are in eternal spiral of freedom and oppression
