I think a lot of people oppose the family visas which allow US citizens to apply for wives, children, parents, and siblings. This chain immigration makes up the bulk of immigration to US. This will definitely stop, in my opinion, reduced to wives and minor children and, maybe, parents.

People think there will be serious opposition to cutting immigration to US, but it's really popular among both the left and right.

Immigration reform is coming one way or another.

It's funny that idiots who have never lived in the US are commenting on this.

US does not have a problem with high tech work force as much. The real shortage in the US lies in the low skilled labor force. Our agricultural sector relies heavily on Mexican immigrant labor to pick fruits/vegetables and what not. The reason so many low skilled workers are coming here or are allowed in is because there's a demand for it.

Being a free market, US is not held on whimps and wishes of internet idiots.

This bill is going to artificially raise wages in certain areas and in return, the prices in the market will go up too. So basically, everyone's gonna get f*cked again.

US need around 1 million immigrants per year to maintain our population. Our fertility rate (including immigrants!) is just 1.88 child per woman. You take away the immigrants---and you become another aging Germany/Japan pretty quickly. Asians (South Koreans/Chinese/Japanese etc) are even worse with their birth rates...since they get so white washed here lol.

Every country preferably seeks a highly educated workforce. That is a no-brainer, but the Americans have other problems. The Americans love to meddle in the affairs of other nations which generally leads to instability. The Americans cannot expect to ignore refugees from countries they have destabilized.
