Recently, I have shared a BBC documentary on post ISIS iraq and expressed my views on a whatsapp group about how US destroyed a peaceful country...my friends in the US expressed their fears and told me not to share such views and videos as it may land them in trouble ...I was shocked by their words...does mere sharing a BBC video and being sympathetic to a country that is destroyedd by war ( without any fault of theirs) land them in trouble?
Why are we so scared? Why are we so selfish to a point that we cant openly express our sympathies to people who are ravaged by war?

No, it's not like India, they have the right to freedom of speech, opinion and expression.. as long as you do not threaten to lynch someone you should be fine..

So please remind us which country fought a long war with Iran for years before it invaded Kuwait? Peaceful? Right.

USA is a sham democracy. The government tolerates you as long as you form part of a controlled opposition. Stepping out of line will bring the police to your doorstep. Remember the Occupy Wall Street movement ?? It was put down with force.

Another example is that the American establishment will probably never allow the CPUSA ( Communist Party of USA ) to come to government power.

While hardly peaceful or a model state under Saddam, the pretext for 2003 has been openly decried even by the Donald.

There could/should have been intervention to remove a brutal dictatorship, but it should have been for the right reasons and with the right local support.

LOL. The irony of that fact is probably lost on you. Do China or Russia even allow a Capitalist party?

Freedom of speech as long as it doesn't challenge the military-industrial-establishment complex.

Fair enough, but to claim that a "peaceful country" was destroyed is emotional hogwash.

Occupy Wall street is perfectly fine. It was “opposed” by law enforcement because of disrupting businesses and normal life but as such it spurred local legislators to pass stricter laws and oversight of wall street.

a large section of democratic party office holders today participated in the movement and now pass regulations reflecting those ideals.

the US is a democracy, if you want to change it then participate in it. Since most critics of it either don’t have say in the matters or even when they are part of the country don’t participate in the system. Don’t expect it to change without being part of it. That goes for democracies everywhere.

I will vote in my congressional elections, talk to the candidates, air my issues and then hold them to task if I hear them say otherwise elsewhere. That is participating and ensuring what you asked for is happening.

If you don’t use the system, then don’t complain if it did not work for you.

Why should they allow a Capitalist party ??

Having said that, I am not a promoter of China's single party rule. What I wish for China, Russia and every other country is adoption of the Direct Democracy Socialism system that existed in Libya until 2011.

As I said, the irony is lost on you. Please rest assured that if CPUSA can get enough candidates and votes to elect them, it can form the government, just like any other party. The people decide.

How can "normal life" continue when the Occupiers are talking about equal socio-economic-political rights for everyone ?? Sitting on the fence is wrong.

The people decide. Rightly or wrongly is besides the point.

No, that is the very point.
