Vietnam - Friend or Foe?

President Obama recently hosted the head of Vietnam’s Communist Party at the White House in an effort to further strengthen America's relationship with its former foe, but how do voters here feel about that?

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 17% of Likely U.S. Voters consider Vietnam to be an ally of the United States. But only 11% now see Vietnam as an enemy. Fifty-three percent (53%) rate it somewhere in between the two. A sizable 19% are not sure.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 12-13, 2015 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
