DEFENCE.PK's opinion:

Here is the video of Musharraf's interview with Kamran Khan in which the claims alleged to have been made by Musharraf took place:

Haha you obviously have not heard the ACTUAL Musharraf interview. His words were clear, he never said anything of the sort. It was just an Indian media spin that was picked up foolishly by some international papers.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1fxYoa_Xbw

The former President said "The equipment is provided to our armed regiments. Today they are serving in Waziristan; some of them as and when needed are shifted all over Pakistan, including to the Indian border in Punjab"

Why are his words being twisted?

Original post:

ISLAMABAD: Former President Pervez Musharraf has said that military aid provided by the US to Pakistan for the war against terror during his

tenure had been used to strengthen defences against India, the first such admission by any top Pakistani leader.

Musharraf admitted that he had violated rules governing the use of the military aid, and justified his actions by saying he had "acted in the best interest of Pakistan."

In an interview with a news channel, he said he "did not care" whether the US would be angered by his disclosure.

The former military ruler, who resigned as President in August last year to avoid impeachment, said he was not ready to compromise on Pakistan's interests.

India and several influential lawmakers in the US have been saying that Pakistan had used funds given to it by the US to take on militants to strengthen its defences against India. However, Pakistan had been denying the charges.

Musharraf said that if he had not supported the US in the war against terror after the 9/11 attacks, American forces could have entered Pakistan to capture its nuclear assets. He said it was also possible that the US and India could have jointly attacked the country.

Musharraf said Pakistan's nuclear programme was so advanced during his tenure that scientists had not only begun enriching uranium but had also developed plutonium-based weapons.

Asked about scientist A Q Khan's claim that he had been forced to make a confession about running a nuclear proliferation network, Musharraf said Khan "had done a lot but he was lying that he was forced to apologise before the nation".

I dont know what is wrong with the politicians of Pakistan to give such dumb statements when they know that they are asking for aid...... No one forced them to give such a statement and still they are giving them....

Who needs an enemy when Pakistan has such people.......

Mushi is trying his best to get attention, he's desperate to make a come back :disagree:...

Perhaps to Pakistan, a strong defense against Indian is the worthiest War on Terror.

At least such blunder statements are not going to get him seat in Pakistan politics....

I dont know what Mushi is trying to do, he gave another irresponsible statement today... May be just want to attract attention

I have seriously doubting the intelligence agencies as well as politicians for giving such statements. All foreign policies are decided by intelligence agencies and still politicians are giving such vague statements against Pakistan which are neither expected nor required as statement of confession for the use of terrorism in state politics. Confession was good but was the time right? I dont think so

Quite a stupid statement. I mean... India knows, USA knows that Pakistan did indeed divert funds to build up its military against India.

But there were these handful of nations who were still in doubt. And this statement by Pervez erases all those doubts.

Now, Pakistan will find it even more hard to get the main component of its economy running - international aid.

Its really a cry for attention for he is being left out of Pakistani politics. In my opinion Gen Mush was never a politician ,for he was a dictator.
Mushi is just trying to hamper Pakistans democracy.

Only thing i have to say this news is bogus and the credibility of this source is not reliable.

Yes Indeed Mushi is Media hungry, But I Doubt it that he will pass such an Idiotic statement. and the source given to us is hardcore anti Pakistan, if he were to make such an statement it would have been a national news, thru-out the US and Europe.

news sources how much biased will not quote a specific person till they have a backing else they can be sued in court with crores for defamation. if you realize this... If it would have not been the case any newspaper would have quoted anything as of like "Barrack Obama asking for aid from Asif Ali Zardari".
