It has reported that 35 luxury yachts were completed and launched last year in the Antalya Free Zone (ASBAS), which has a important role in Turkiye's ranking in yacht production.

From yachts to electronics, from medical to textiles and agriculture, 88 companies, 30 of which have foreign capital, operate in the region, and 98 percent export-oriented work is carried out. The yacht industry creates an important potential in the region, where companies with partnerships in the USA, Italy and Switzerland, mainly in Germany and the Netherlands, are located.

In the region, where luxury yachts ranging from 10 meters to 90 meters are produced with the design of Turkish engineers and the labor of their workers, a large part of the yachts made to order by 48 companies are sold abroad.

Antalya Free Zone Founder and Operator Inc. General Manager Zeki Gürses said that they increased their investments despite the epidemic in 2021.

Emphasizing that the investment in a ship lift with a lifting capacity of 2K tons and a crane with a lifting capacity of 560 tons, which went into service last year, increased the attractiveness of the region shipyards; Gürses also stated that they undertook an important mission in the Mediterranean basin.

Stating that they have become a world brand in luxury yacht production, they have received orders from dozens of countries from Italy to England, from the USA to Russia and the United Arab Emirates, and continued as follows: "The yachts produced by 48 companies in our region are sold all over the world. Products are made to order. Even countries such as Italy and the Netherlands, which have come to the forefront in the yacht industry, we sold yachts them. Especially after the launching and towing systems that were put into service in June are completed, there is a significant increase in order sizes. "At the moment, we have companies producing 75 meters in length, now we will be able to serve yachts up to 90 meters and 2K tons in our region. This is a great power."

Noting that they launched 35 luxury yachts with a sales value of around 200 million dollars last year, Gürses stated that they have delivered 514 yachts with a sales value of approximately 1.5 billion dollars to their owners since 2000, when yacht production began.

Stating that yacht production will continue to increase this year, Gürses said, "Our companies have started to take orders seriously. This year, the number of yachts around 50, our companies have started to receive orders for all kinds of yachts, no matter how small or big. The yachts we manufacture are exhibited all over the world. Most of the shipyards' orderbooks are full, they started taking orders for the next years. They can't keep up with the demand right now." said.

“There is a demand for investment, but there is no room”

Stating that the yachts coming for maintenance and repair also provide significant foreign currency inflow, Gürses said that an area of approximately 25 thousand square meters is allocated for maintenance and repair, and this provides a serious advantage to the companies.

Stating that there is a high demand for investment in the region from many countries, especially from the Middle East countries, Iran, Italy and Germany, Gürses said, "The area of the region has been filled. Especially in the last year, domestic and foreign companies have been making serious demands for investment." he said.

Explaining that they are trying to include a new area of approximately 20 thousand square meters in the region, Gürses noted that if this area is allocated, the employment and trade volume of the companies will increase even more.

Gürses also stated that they have started to serve as a port in the region and that they can serve ships up to 190 meters in length.
