Diplomatic victory for Pakistan - Reason why Mahatir was invited as chief guest on 23rd March
Some thought it was for to push JF-17 sales but now we know the real reason. Thanks to Malaysia Pakistan averted blacklisting motion put forth by our chaddi friends

Pakistan's Imran Khan calls Dr M to thank Msia for its support

LONDON (Bernama): Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan telephoned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad in London Saturday (June 15) to thank Malaysia for its support of Pakistan’s bid to avoid being blacklisted by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Dr Mahathir, who is in the United Kingdom for a three-day working visit, took the six-minute call at the Malaysian High Commission here.

Malaysia’s support was seen as crucial in helping to stop Pakistan from being blacklisted after India had put forth a motion with FATF to blacklist the country for money-laundering activities linked to terrorism.
With Malaysia’s backing, Pakistan now has the support of three nations.
After taking the call from Imran, Dr Mahathir told the Malaysian media present at the Malaysian High Commission that Malaysia showed its support to Pakistan as the country has upped its war against money laundering.
"We decided based on the rule of law. Not due to animosity. We admit that money laundering is a major problem and it is happening because of the borderless world that allows free flow of capital,” he said, adding that there was no point blacklisting any particular nation.
He also pointed out that the free flow of capital has affected other countries as well, including Malaysia, where capitalists have invested huge amounts of money in the share markets pushing up share prices.
"At the end of the day, they sell their shares for a profit and take back their capital and their earnings at the expense of the countries they invested in,” he said.
Dr Mahathir also touched on the irony of trade wars, where the world promoted trade on one hand and on the other imposed sanctions.
"In the end many innocent nations such as Malaysia are also affected. Hence, though we have no problem with Iran, we cannot trade with the country because of the sanctions. The trade war with China is also affecting us,” he said.
Meanwhile, after Dr Mahathir took the phone call from Imran, Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah told reporters that with Malaysia’s support, Pakistan has three nations behind it, with the other two being China and Turkey, and hence it could no longer be blacklisted. - Bernama

I think Mahathir is just a sensible statesman and this decision had little to do with his invitation on March 23. IK often quotes and cites him as an example for things he learned and judging by this it's for very good reason. Iran hasn't invited him to any parade AFAIK but he brought up a very good point about them.

its usally a tide, others will join in as well.
key countries we need to lobby is USA, if we fail there we will still be in trouble
but FATF is good thing for us if it forces us to change our money laundering loop holes

FATF can be very good for Pakistan

Our issues with money laundering were not being resolved not because of anything to do with with terrorism but because we had a corrupt elite who saw the closing of loopholes as a threat to their own corruption, theft and looting

It is in our own interest that we crack down on those loop holes

yes and we should fix they damn problem without thinking blackmailing of FATF . our problem of money laundering and terror financing is serious threat to us .

India should keep up the financial blacklist pressure on Pakistan until they take action against terrorists like Azhar Masoond, Hafiz Saeed.

Terrorism and peace talks can't go hand in hand.

Government should convince people that money launder ppp and n league are the reason we the Pakistani nation are in trouble...

FATF has become a political arm twisting tool in the hands of US, India, and some European countries. It will hammer on you if you are weak. Powerful countries dont give it a damn. For example US refused to let ICJ come to US and investigate human rights violation in Afg by its troops.
On the other hand they help launder money during Iran-Contra arms smuggling.
There is no rule and Pakistan has to find a way to hit back India and its supporters where it hurts.

Fatf has all of 37 members. Pakistan says it is a diplomatic victory when it has 3 votes. That must be shame not victory.

For Pakistan it's a victory dude. They are an overly optimistic bunch. They also claim they are not isolated at all. You want proof? Imran Khan shook hands and joked with Putin....proof for you :D

Your PM is really struggling to not get Pakistan blacklisted in FATF. If that's not isolation then I don't know what is.

they are freedom fighters not terrorists . although i want them to die and create new leadership for Kashmir freedom struggle .
