Most of us have continued to vote for the same respective political parties that our forefathers voted for....why is that? Recently I conducted a voting session with my esteemed colleagues who are all highly educated, highly trained in various countries for their respective roles and have years of experience and with excellent local & international political awareness.
Despite all these advantages that they hold over normal Pakistanis, the first person told me he would vote for PPP(P), it was like a slap in the face. The second person said he would vote for PML(N) and that he has always voted for them and this is how the rest of them answered. I was very very saddened by their answers as though most of us do not even want to attempt to change the fate of our country. Why do we have this mentality?
I, myself, would vote for Musharraf/Imran Khan or MQM, in that order, if the other 2 are not available to vote for in my area....as a Karachiite I am witness to MQM's contribution to the city above all hence the reason of my lean. However I believe Imran Khan must be given a chance because a change is what we need more than anything else.
But how can we expect a change when our most learned and brightest still vote for the same political parties that they curse everyday? We don't have electricity, we don't have gas, we don't have water, we don't have money to pay our debt. and we discuss these same things every day yet we continue to support the same setups.....how will this cycle (PPP->PML) break?
What is wrong with us??
