Most of us have continued to vote for the same respective political parties that our forefathers voted for....why is that? Recently I conducted a voting session with my esteemed colleagues who are all highly educated, highly trained in various countries for their respective roles and have years of experience and with excellent local & international political awareness.

Despite all these advantages that they hold over normal Pakistanis, the first person told me he would vote for PPP(P), it was like a slap in the face. The second person said he would vote for PML(N) and that he has always voted for them and this is how the rest of them answered. I was very very saddened by their answers as though most of us do not even want to attempt to change the fate of our country. Why do we have this mentality?

I, myself, would vote for Musharraf/Imran Khan or MQM, in that order, if the other 2 are not available to vote for in my area....as a Karachiite I am witness to MQM's contribution to the city above all hence the reason of my lean. However I believe Imran Khan must be given a chance because a change is what we need more than anything else.

But how can we expect a change when our most learned and brightest still vote for the same political parties that they curse everyday? We don't have electricity, we don't have gas, we don't have water, we don't have money to pay our debt. and we discuss these same things every day yet we continue to support the same setups.....how will this cycle (PPP->PML) break?

What is wrong with us??

Why do you think PTI or MQM are better than PPP and PML. Is not that your inherent bias which frustrates you when you hear different answer.

I have also asked this question many times maybe the majority is corrupt and is ok with the status quo.I think most of the students are from elite class schools and colleges so ultimately they benefit directly from PML-N or PPP Corruption.

Democracy is a flawed system. I dont know why we bother sometimes.

PTi/MQM have never formed a Govt. at the centre and a political setup can only truly be judged when they have absolute power such as that enjoyed by PML(N) in Nawaz Sharif's second term as Prime Minister. MQM/PTI are not the reason we are short of power, water, gas and reeling under 150-250% true inflation in the past 3-4 years....it is this PPP Govt. Things have gone from fine to bad to worse and there is no positive sign because they are all busy plotting their next big 'corruption' heist.

I don't think the system is flawed, if that had been the case then how come western countries operate so much better?

No we are not unfortunate but yes we are specialist's in mismanagement.did anybody actually knew that In fact Pakistan was a truly blessed nation it had everything at independence post 1947-49 Pakistan was around 400,000 sq ml ! more then 1 million sq km west Pakistan 307,703 sq ml,east Pakistan 56,000 sq ml, prior to 1963 Pakistan control Kashmir around 36,000 sq ml. It had every thing literally every thing which is blessed which if managed properly could have turned it into a truly economical, militarily, technological, diplomatic, nuclear, regional Asian power to reckon with. what else could have we hoped for. Allah gave us everything, it is not like this that my family left Calcutta for Decca,Lahore,Karachi . But yes the state that we have bought ourselves into nobody but ourselves are to be blamed for it, after Allah the blessed gave us everything instead of being grateful & working hard for this country what did we do,we got ourselves involved in all the world of nonsensical qualities we became Urdu speaking,Bengali,Punjabi,Baluchis,Pathans,Sindhi's, shia-sunnis,syed's-non syed's, & God knows what not, instead of turning the whole country into a shining example of an agricultural, industrial, educational ,military, nuclear, middle class based strong society, we divided ourselves into the curse full whims of a status quo society where people were respected for their imported cars the size of their house, brand of their clothes, shoes etc,etc families were divided along these poisonous lines , on the international front we with out thinking about the long term consequence's of geo-political realities jumped into the U.S led band wagon along with SEATO and Cento & what not ,instead of focusing on building our own defense & commercial industries we started buying of the shelves weapons blindly then one fine day jumped our selves to an unplanned war of 1965 neglected the east refused to accept the election results of 71, then after sometime came a leader like Zia ul haq who himself dint know for what purpose God had created him, so i guess he experimented with the whole nation to find that out & in the bargain screwed it upside down in a span of 11 years, then came nawas, bibi,& musharraf era followed by this present misery now tell me is Pakistan unfortunate or are we specialist's in mismanagement if you think carefully then we should agree with the second option
