Hi all.

I've seen in many threads that people from Pakistan claim that the Indo-US nuclear deal was in violation of international laws and hence is illegal.

What I do not understand though is precisely which laws did we break because as far as I know, India and US got a legitimate waiver from NSG for India and also new laws were crafted in both the countries and as well as the NSG.

I understand it as a case of drafting newer laws to supersede older ones while many Pakistanis claim that it violates laws...how exactly?:undecided:

If, for example, a newer law is passed and it replaces the older law, how exactly is this 'illegal'?:undecided:

naa.....It was done in a democratic manner with IAEA first endorsing the India-US nuclear deal and then the NSG unanimously (;) ) supported India's bid to have a civilian nuke deal by amending the existing laws of the NSG.

Is amending existing laws to create new ones based on one's merit illegal..? I hope you got your answer.

Yes buddy but I want to hear the Pakistani members' POV.

Yes they will tell it is illegal and bad .....because they did not get one. Simple

Nope It might be your POV not mine, I dont think it is bad, it can provide us long term electricity, we have made many nuclear deals with china, now China is planing for a fifth nuclear reactor for Pakistan

So when Indian members say that nuclear deal between Pakistan and China is Illegal then we raise this point, IMO

You dont get the difference in the two transactions ...Or do you ??

India went to the NSG with a credible record and the NSG members amended their own laws to accomodate India judging on its credibility.

Whereas the China-Pak accord is just contrary to all established norms and rules whereby China unilterally goes ahead with the deal.

If Pakistan had gone the same route as India, then I for one, will be the first in congragulating you..But this way its plain violation.

Anyways, let's not make this about Pak-China nuke deal guys. Let's discuss the Indo-US nuke deal and its so-called 'illegality'.

I think it was a done deal between China and Pakistan before China became a member of NSG. Now China can't sell any new reactor because of international laws. Also China needs western permission to sell larger reactors to Pakistan and they are buying large reactors for themselves from France.

Its because India got permissions from both IAEA and NSG to do nuclear business both buy and sell.
