There should be a two star general who should deal with of the foreign affairs of Pakistan including Afg,Ind,US,KSA interactions etc.
He should guide the political leadership by telling Military interests. COAS should stay in the country and this general should go on foreign trips.
Your opinions?

.
It is not the military's job to take over all institutions, weak structures cannot be substituted out of convenience, they have to be built up and strengthened to perform their role properly.
Besides, the COAS sending an envoy to meet some other country's top brass is a breach of diplomatic protocol and convention, any serious meeting is always held between equals.

Off-Topic: Since we are talking about corruption, let me tell you what happened to me today. I used to play the Harmonica as a kid and after many years I felt like starting again and I went to some music stores today and was shocked at the profiteering that is going on in our markets, lucky for me, I had seen the rates for entry level harmonicas before I left and could thus see what fools they were making out of their clientele.

Suzuki Easy Rider: Shop 1 (Rs 1900, USD 19) / Shop 2 (Rs 2250, USD 22.5) Retail US: USD 10

Hohner Bluesband: Shop 1 (Rs 3500, USD 35) / Shop 2 (Rs 3000, USD 30) Retail US: USD 6.5

I came back a dejected and harmonica-less man....

Missed this crucial point. I think I take my idea back.
Thanks for helping me out.

Equally off topic: Can you please PM me Sir. I have a proposition for you.

On topic: Not if there is a formal and legal process within Pakistan that creates the correct standing, as I proposed in that thread.

Yes but that would require an institutional reform, which would of course be a legal matter. Beyond the scope of this thread's argument.

@Icarus Sir, I think you are a Jew or at least a spy for Israel. A Pakistani who plays a musical instrument like the harmonica? Jew! :D

Who do I report you to? Where is ISI when you need them?

I totally agree. All Doctors, Scientists, Engineers, Bankers, Stock Brokers, Welders, Truck Drivers, Nurses, Teachers, Students, Black Smith, Blue Smith, Presidents, Prime Ministers should ALL come from the military.

There is no need for the 200 million civilian population when 550 k strong military men can provide ALL that the country needs!!!! Great topic and thread, filled with brilliance. I feel like Mr. Einstein opened up the thread himself. Awesome work

Let politicians get blame of fail foreign policy, eventually politicians need to take national issue. Its not military job.

Hi,

I think it is an excellent idea----and you have hit the nail pretty close to the head. I think that the foreign office should have a 1 or 2 star dedicated advisor for that post that could brief the minister for issues or position the military wants to take regarding certin nations---.

It will keep the checks and balances in place-----. The reason over here is that the politicians are so incompetent and illiterate about their job---right upto the prime minister.

Let politicians get blame of fail foreign policy, eventually politicians need to take national issue. Its not military job.

Hi,

You cannot keep the politicians getting failed and then later blaming them----. That destroys the development of the country---. It is like startng the relay race all over from the begining---while the other countries have gone past the winning point---.

Why not be pro-active nd stop them at making a mistake at the time of the mistake---so the consequences are not harsh and the pay back is not bitter.

Let me ask you and everyone else---in your house----does your father and mother let everything get destroyed and then they start blaming each other---or do they step in immediately if they see something wrong and correct the direction----.

Why, you Mad! hehehe
On a serious note,
No, I never meant that Military should occupy the work of other. I meant that a dedicated general whose sole purpose is to give our political leadership the military opinion so that the National interest can be safeguarded will be appreciated. Ofcourse we need to help our incompetent political leadership back on track and military can not take this task. Rather then out Army chief go visit various nations instead of focusing our internal military activities, a dedicated general solely responsible for dealing with foreign relations is a nice idea.BTW, I forgot about the diplomatic protocol.
STILL There is a way as suggested by Mr Syed Ali Haider...

Actually, I'd more accurately be labelled a red neck, going by my choice of instrument :p:
