Mumbai: In more trouble for Devyani Khobragade, the Indian Foreign Service officer is likely to face a probe in connection with the Adarsh scam. Devyani owns a flat in the controversial Adarsh society in Mumbai's Colaba area.

According to sources, the CBI has evidence that she purchased the flat after giving false declarations and by hiding information about another flat allotted to her under government quota. However, Devyani's father Uttam Khobragade has said that the declaration was made by him and she was not aware about it. Affidavit is on 29 June, 2004, which was signed by me. On that day we were not owner of the flat. "Devyani doesn't know what's stated in the application or affidavit. So, I am responsible not devyani. You cant hold somebody else responsible," he said.

According to Maharashtra government rules, an official applying for a flat under a government quota has to give a signed affidavit stating that he or she does not own any other flat.

Devyani had an apartment in Oshiwara locality in the city which too she had got under the government quota.

When Indian brought Devyani home from the U.S. the ministry spokesman specifically said that they would try to make sure Devyani kept her immunity from prosecution while she was on Indian soil - i.e., that they would work to ensure that Devyani would be immune from Indian laws. We will see if this proposed perversion of international protocol - essentially an attempt to create an Indian class of nobility that is above the law - is successful or not.

Lol r u for real? No indian (except the president) can be made immune from Indian law. What ministers said was that she would be made immune from American law (she was given that) . And now she is here in india we can do whatever we want if she found guilty of doing wrong by indian law.

Please give us a source for that ludicrous claim. Nobody in India is exempt from Indian laws, except diplomats of other countries. The Prime Minister himself has no immunity.

I'd love to see her go to jail, and half the foreign service guys who seemed to think indian foreign policy is their dad's private property.
