Details about armoured corps uniform

Looks like a throwback to the British Army cavalry uniform. I believe the IA and british army still has such dress for formal dress.

Every army has a set of Mess and Formal Dress Regulation: I.E: No.1 Dress, No.2 Dress etc... I am not PA, so cannot comment on this, perhaps Fatman or some ex PA member could.

Yes and this looks to be the PA's armoured corps' Number 1 dress.

Just saw this old thread & it evoked interest.

What the General is wearing is called Blue Patrol - the winter mess dress . All regiments have a ceremonial winter & summer mess dress.

In the Armoured Corps ( IA, PA, Brit, Canadian)what is worn on the shoulders as seen in the picture is called Chain Mail - it is a type of armour consisting of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh.

A throw back from the old cavalry days when cavaliers wore chain mails all over their upper body to protect them from sword cuts.

Now for old times sake it is worn on the shoulders only.
