Opposition parties organised widespread protests across Andhra Pradesh against the Centre's demonetisation move but no bandh as such was observed in the state today even as leaders of CPI and YSRC were detained at some places following demonstrations.

LDF strike begins in Kerala[/paste:font]
In the early hours of the strike which started at 6 AM, autorickshaws were seen plying in some places, providing some relief to people. Lukewarm response to anti-demonetisation strike in Bengal[/paste:font]
Train and flight movement was normal, most vehicles hit the streets, and markets and shops mostly did normal business, as the 12-hour general strike called by 18 Left and other parties against demonetisation, evoked lukewarm response in West Bengal on Monday.
Schools and colleges remained open, though attendance was less than usual, while offices and business establishments functioned normally throughout the state.

The Puducherry unit of Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) today said those who were hoarding black money and evading income tax alone raised the banner of revolt against the Centre' move to combat corruption and fake currency, through demonetisation. President of Puducherry unit of BJP, V Saminathan in a release here said that those who were honestly paying income tax were all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives. "Only those hiding black money were up in arms against it," he alleged.

Trains stopped, Bharat bandh begins in Bihar
The supporters and workers of the Left parties, including the CPI, CPM, CPI(ML) and other parties, stopped over a dozen long route trains at Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur railway stations. "Several trains were halted to enforce shutdown," a police officer said.
