Delhi, you are f***ing amazing!
The capital got well and truly 'Mafia'd' as EDM band Swedish House Mafia performed in Noida on Sunday
Nov 20, 2012, 12.00 AM IST
While fans all over the world bleed over the split of one of the world's most sensational electronic music groups, fans in Delhi had a reason to smile as the Swedish House Mafia went full volume in Noida for one final performance. The international EDM band, which is currently touring the world on its One Last Tour - that kicked off this month - before disbanding, made sure that their first and last visit to India was a memorable one.
DJ Nikhil Chinapa, who played at the concert and introduced the international band on stage, said, "The world is watching India, India is watching Noida and Noida is watching Swedish House Mafia." Accompanied by lasers, fireworks, confetti and flames, the trio of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso took centrestage, playing hit tracks like Greyhound, with the words "We come, we rave, we love" flashing on the LCD screens behind them. Greeting the crowd with a customary, "India, how are you guys doing?" they worked up a musical storm.
The concert went off smoothly, with SHM appearing on stage at exactly 8pm (a rare thing so far as international concerts in NCR go) and entertaining fans for close to two hours. While playing I Got Nothing But Love For You, Axwell climbed up on the console and shouted, "You all look f***ing amazing tonight." The crowd got 'Mafia'd' as they couldn't stop raving about the music. Sanket Chaddha, a college student who came with his group of friends, said, "I can travel the length and breadth of any country just to hear them live. What they're doing tonight is nothing less than epic." Joana, 23, an Australian who is studying in Delhi, told us, "These guys create magic together, and this was my last chance of ever hearing them live together. I wouldn't have missed this for anything in the world."
Flashing the tricolour on the LCDs, the EDM giants took a final bow and said, "You were beautiful tonight Delhi. Thanks for raving with us under the sky! Thank you India for making us feel so special tonight. Our One Last Tour would have been incomplete without coming to India."
For the fans of Swedish House Mafia(SHM), it was all about witnessing the end of a defining era and being a part of something which most of them termed as 'epic'. The SHM concert saw a strong crowd of about 25,000 people, comprising mostly youngsters, come out and party with Mafiosos (as they are collectively called). The fans starting turning up at the venue as early as 2pm, and the gates opened at 4pm. DJ Mash opened the concert, followed by DJ Nikhil Chinapa and later DJ Nawed Khan.
