UK buses have CCTV's installed in them it deters idiots from doing any sort of crime but the UK goes further with a central hub where CCTV's in strategic locations are monitored and fed to the police so the response time is rapid, the system works and has caught numerous crimes.

There are separate buses for women in many cities and separate compartments in metro trains as well. But the passengers vs buses ratio does not permit a separate enclosure in every bus.
