I am sure GoP could easily welcome Middle Eastern investors especially from KSA and UAE along with Oman and Jordan to look in to investing in Balochistan. Also to have invested in Gidani Shipyards Like to have in its East and West zones with 5 Dry Docks of Mega Class in each Shipyard.

@DESERT FIGHTER is right , presently there is only one Shipyard in Karachi which was Built in early 50's as a project of PIDC.

However, there are plans to build two more shipyards at Gadani and Port Qasim.........

thanks , but is the work already start on another shipyard ??? or they are just rumors ??

The decision to build these two Shipyards was made recently on 20 March , 2014, so the construction would start in near future. Both these areas need to have infrastructure and Power plants to support the Shipyards which will need a lot of power. The work on the Power Plants has already started.

The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) is seeking funds from the federal government for procuring four specialised tugboats equipped with firefighting and allied facilities to handle vessels carrying high risk cargoes at the port’s proposed LNG floating terminal.
The proposed LNG terminal project involves lot of safety and SOPs (standard operating practices) which have to be met before the approval is given before the terminal can be operational. The PQA board was informed that huge funds were needed for the purchase of big tugboats for handling LNG vessels. “The port would require major investment before it allows the LNG terminal to start its operations and for this the federal government funding would be urgently needed.”

The federal government on 20 March 2014, decided to set up two new shipyards at Gwadar and Port Qasim with investments from Japanese and Korean firms on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis.
It is reported that proposal for new shipyards with zero investment from the government was floated by a number of Japanese and Korean firms and a formal summary was submitted to the government in 2008 but did not move an inch since then.
The proposal was originally submitted to the government in 2008 following a group of renowned shipyard operators in Japan and Korea conducted a feasibility study and offered to finance the shipyards.
Under the proposal, the consortium had asked the government to be equity partner in the shipyards by providing shores, land and infrastructure and the rest would be taken care of by the investors.
It has been decided to start first with the Gwadar port where deep seashores were available and it would not only support development of Gwadar Port commercially in terms of increased traffic arising out of its proximity with Gulf ports and the ability to provide repair and maintenance support to international ships travelling in the area.
This would be followed up with another shipyard at Port Qasim.
Pakistan currently has only one shipyard at Karachi port.

There is only one shipyard.
KSEW (Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works)

At present plans for another shipyard at PQA & Gwadar are only on paper.
Gadani is specifically for Ship breaking.

thanks bro ... well now it make sense that why we are making two nuclear plants on gadani ,, well this is good news for pak navy ..

GoP should give money to make Naval Base in Gwadar along with two Mega Ship yards(having 5 Mega Dry Docks) in East and West Zone of Gwadar, Jiwani and Gidani; more over similar expansion in Karachi.

I suspect some deal is going to be done with China regarding new bigger Frigate and Submarines. Lets see.....

I think Pakistan should welcome GCC investors to invest in Gwadar real estate development along with Port and Real Estate in Jiwani too..

PN should look towards having Bases in South East and West Zones along with Two Ship Yards having 5 Huge Dry Docks and State of the Art facility there... Both in Gwadar and Jiwani and not to Forget in Karachi as well.
