I was thinking along these lines when a friend (Taimi) suggested the very same, so I decided to make a thread about it.

Note

1)Pukhtoon is a person who can speak Pushto whereas our nation or as some call it race is Afghan. The proper word thus for a person whose both parents are Pushtoon and who can speak or understand Pushto is Afghan. This however does not mean Afghans cannot be Pakistani. I am an Afghan and my country is Pakistan :pakistan: .

2) Recently the word Afghan has been used synonymously with any person born and living in Afghanistan. Historically that is not accurate. From History (easily searchable on the net) Afghan is a person defined by the above definition and the land where they have descended down generation through generation is called Afghanistan. It was also once called Zabulistan.

3) Do this when you post:

---------> say Bismillah

a. your name/nick
b. your qam / qabeela / khel
c. your city (back home in dear Pakistan)
d. say some good words for Islam, Pakistan and Pushtoons

:toast_sign:

I'll begin:

Bismillah
Salman, Khattak, Mardan, Love to all in Pakistan :pakistan:

.
a. NEO!

I'm pretty sure, the Afghan word is nowadays ambiguous and would probably signify nationality rather than the ethnicity.

b. Qabeela? More appropriately European. Actually I really don't know I'll let him fill it up.

c. Karachi

d. Pakistan Zindabad!

. .
why pathan word is bothering you.

commonly known as pathan, remembered by every one.

btw agno is another one, dunno if its true.

Right on! but it is unfortunate since it has been the other way for more than a millenia !!

When you put it that way (Qabeela) it sounds Soo medieval  by Qabeela I mean the tribe name in your full name :)

Muradk and Jabar_1 both MP's are also Pushtun.

Nice to hear that :toast_sign:

Well, put in historical context the word Pathan was more or less used in a light slangy way, like instead of calling Muslims Muslims, some of our next door neighbors :azn: used to say Muslay, albeit not always derogatory but not grammatically and historically noble either.

and since the actual word is derived from our native language ( i.e. Pushtoon/Pukhtoon from Pushto or Pukhto) why then say Pathan?

Simply put, A Pukhtoon would (rather should ) like it more if you call him Pushtoon/Pukhtoon :enjoy:

Ok, i am waiting for a Defence PK's Sindhi, Punjabi, Mohajir, Balochi thread also....!!

Ha Ha Ha! Got the point Bro! ;) but division on the basis of ethnicity was not intended at all :P you should know that I'm all :pakistan: just as I said in the 1st post of this thread

It was to make a thread in the member's section where we could throw some Pushto at ourselves while not being bothered by the others for the need to translate it  you can come if you'd like that :toast_sign:

I hope that clarifies it :P

No need to clarify sir. i know that the intentions were not of division etc etc, but why not to use PMs for the Pashtu practice?
