Defence Economics

I respectfully disagree.

Honorable KediKesenFare,

I can only justify my view on the basis that I carefully observed the 10-year Afghan war (from News reports) and also the break up of the Soviet Union. Additionally, my opinion has been influenced by the following publications.

Schweizer, Peter. Victory: The Reagan administration’s secret strategy that hastened the collapse of the Soviet Union. Atlantic Monthly Pr, 1994.

In this publication, Schweizer gives an in-depth analysis of how the economic stresses of the war in Afghanistan amplified the effects of economic embargos set by the United States and NATO."

Gorbachev, Mikhail. Memoirs. London: Doubleday Press 1996

Mikhail Gorbachev describes the harmful effects of the Afghan war, and how he attempted to thwart the damage done to the social structure of the state, by instating democratizing reforms such as Glasnost’ and Perestroika. His account helps the researcher get a perspective on the collapse and how the war in Afghanistan influenced the collapse, and how the problems caused by the conflict were dealt with at the seat of power.

However, my opinion is just one among many and may not necessarily be correct. You are welcome to disagree with it.

For our nation the only option is earn more and spend more. Alternatively there is serfdom.

Anyone who thinks the nukes are a detterent is kidding themselves. The nukes will only be fired if someone decides to hold large swathes of territory, ie the army is left without a kingdom to rule. Anything short of that and they'll remain locked away.
