Speaking at a media event, PM Modi said, "The country is feeling the absence of Rafale. The entire country is saying in one voice today, what all could have happened if we had Rafale."
The Indian Air Force used Russian manufactured MiG 21 in the air strike on Pakistan on 27 Feb 2019, the two aircrafts sent by India in Pak were shot and Indian Armed Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was detained.
It is understandable that the failure of airstrike was a strong blow for the Indians, but this failure does not give the right to Indian PM Narendra Modi to prefer French manufactured jets over the technology of their all-weather defense supplier Russia.
If we turn back the pages of history, India has purchased/leased various military hardware from Russia, 170 military and industrial facilities in India were setup with Russia’s support, Russia accounted for 62% of arms sales to India between 2013 and 2018, last but not the least India and Russia signed several major joint military programmes including BrahMos cruise missile programme, 5th generation fighter jet programme, Sukhoi Su-30MKI programme, Ilyushin/HAL Tactical Transport Aircraft, KA-226T twin-engine utility helicopters and some frigates as well.
It must have been quite astonishing for the Russians to hear such words of doubts on their well-established defense technology by their so-called friends.
The question arises that how can one jet offered by French become a priority in comparison to numerous Russian defense equipment. Dear PM Narendra Modi, the point to ponder is: “Do you trust the capabilities of Russian arms and artillery or you doubt them?” Does this statement imply that India considers all Russian equipment as secondary to Rafale???
It is high time that Russian President Mr Vladimir Putin, takes off the blindfold of trust on his favourite Mr Modi. Russian government needs to realize that PM Narendra Modi is playing a double game with Russians, by signing defense and counter-terror partnership agreements at one end and clearly announcing his preference of French technology over Russian.
Furthermore, India emphasizes on the failure of Russian technology by estimating that more than 400 MiG 21s have crashed since the 1970s and many of them were due to technical snags. The accident-prone MiGs have been termed “flying coffins” by several defense experts as they have been crashing repeatedly. Even the users of MiG 21 are hoping for the early delivery of Rafale, terming them as the biggest acquisitions by IAF.
Despite this, President Vladimir Putin and Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu are signing new agreements of manufacturing Kalashnikov assault rifles' 200 series
with the traitor India, who clearly failed Russian arms and technology in the comparative analysis with the French defense products.
