DUBAI - Dawlance, Pakistan’s premier home appliance brand, is taking part in The Big 5 exhibition to explore export opportunities particularly in the Middle East and Africa region, a top official of the company said.
The company, which established its Dubai office in 2009 to focus on export segment, manufactures and distributes refrigerators, washing machines, chest freezers, air conditioners, microwave ovens.

“The Dubai office is our first international office for entire global distribution of Dawlance products,” Ravi Katial, director, Greene Ethics, told Khaleej Times at The Big5 fair.

The company is launching its H-Zone series for the first time in international market at the exhibition. H-Zone Series protects the food from bacteria growth, doubles the duration of food preservation, removes bad odour & stops its transfer from one food to another, and ensures uniform circulation of cool air.

“This is Dawlance’s first overseas participation and we are displaying our latest products in the show,” Katial said, adding that at the moment the Dubai office looks after the Middle East and Africa, but its the office to discover export potential across the globe.

“We are also looking at other Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and other parts of Africa and East Africa,” he added. Regarding the participation in The Big 5, he said: “We have fairly reasonable response for the last two days. We have got very good enquiries from our target countries including Morocco, Iran, Turkey, Qatar and Bahrain.”

He declined to provide export volume of the company and said: “We are very young in this segment, but growing.”

For the UAE market, the company has OEM arrangements with popular brands in the country. An original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, manufactures products or components that are purchased by a company and retailed under that purchasing company’s brand name. The company, which has three manufacturing plants in Pakistan, enjoys overall 55 per 
cent market share on average in all categories.

The company enjoys leadership position in direct cool products in Pakistan as its refrigerator has over 70 per cent market share, freezer 30 per cent, microwave oven 65 per cent, washing machine 40 per cent and split air conditioners 30 per cent market share, he said.

“In Pakistan 97 per cent market belong to direct cool products and we have majority share in this segment,” Katial said.

Quoting a recent research, he said Dawlance is the 7th most favourite brand in Pakistan out of 3,500 brands in the country. The research further revealed that Dawlance is in every second household in Pakistan (out of those households which have appliances). The brand is considered to be the most ‘Reliable’ & ‘Innovative’ brand among all home appliance brands in Pakistan.
