ISLAMABAD : Advisor to Prime Minister on Water and Power Dr. Musadik Malik says financing of Dasu Hydropower Project has been arranged and its first phase will be completed in three to four years. In an interview, he said the project will help overcome power shortage, besides irrigating thousands of acres of barren land. Musadik Malik said the World Bank had agreed to provide assistance for the 4,320MW power project. He said negotiations are also underway with World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other international financial institutions to start work on Diamer Basha dam project.
Dasu Hydropower Project is a run of river scheme located 7km upstream of Dasu village on Indus River, 74km downstream of Diamer Basha Dam and 350km from Islamabad. The Project is located in District Kohistan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

If they can really complete half of this project in 4 years, i would be seriously impressed. And PML-N can, because they've made such development as part of their ego. What ever the politics, the whole country will benefit.

I hope this is true.

We need atleast 40Billion dollars reserves so that we can take projects of such magnitude on our own instead of asking china,World bank,Imf or ADB for help

Whoa! Hold your horses....40 Billion is not an easy task unless external account is not completely re-engineered.

True but this is the reality. If we want major infrastructure projects to be completed on time than we need to fund them from our own resource's.Otherwise like the neelam Jhelum dam,It will take decades to be completed because half of the time the work is stopped and for years we beg for more Money from china and world bank

bhasha and dasu are of utmost importance, anyone found playing around with its completion for their own benefits deserve to be hung for treason.

unless the fundamentals are fixed it does not matter how much is added to foreign reserves superficially. there needs to be concerted effort to reform fdi regulations for small to medium scale manufacturing, coupled with priority on education. need is value added production to export for hard currency. but considering everything, ideally all should be kept aside to focus on education if necessary, theres nothing more important and in critical situation than that atm.

Pakistan needs to make as many dams possible, specially Kala Bagh dam & Bhasha dam, both of them are assets of Pakistan.

Good ol' Dr. Musadik. Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences from Univ.of Chicago, currently advisor on Electricity generation and distribution. He was with Mushy and left him for a very interesting reason. Now he is with PM NS. Write this down people: One day he will take a fall for his boss. This is bound to happen.

Anyways, talk of massive reserves is a bit premature for sure, but just such projects when completed would ensure that we do have reserves.
