Some time a huge bottle guard is available for Rs 5 per piece. A huge cabbage (More than a KG) is sold for Rs 10 a piece. Capsicum is available at Rs 20 A Kg so as Gawar and laddies fingers. Bringles are also available at almost same price. Potatoes are available at Rs 10 to 12 a KG. Tomatos are available at Rs 10 to 15. Outsource Onion is costly at Rs 60 a KG.

Blood red Simla Apples are available at Rs 40 to 50 a KG. Water Mellon and other melons All fruits are available at Rs 20 to 40 a kg.

Lemon is Rs 10 to 20 one KG.

I think vegetable had never been so cheap so a s fruuits. Does anybody have any Idea why is it so.? May be because of bumper production?

I am from kerala, and we are a consumer state, where we get the vegetables from near by states like TN and karnataka, so the prices are going to be high......But the poor farmer get close to 1/4th of the price we pay in stores.....

. .
Onions are at 60 rs and potatoes at 40 , as for meats chicken is at 140 /kg mutton 480/kg and beef at 240/kg.
And yeah vegetables are not cheap either.

The solution to that is "Farmers & wholesale market." To hell with the middle man. The guy who works the hardest should get the lions share.

Secondly, ones that can, should look into rooftop gardening. Can be a very soothing and rewarding hobby. Nothing like picking your own herbs, and vegetables. I used to grow a lot of stuff when I was in Pakistan, Unfortunately here because of the climate, it is very water intensive, and not really viable.

we used to do that when we lived in village, we had enough land to do so.....But in city is not possible, but then we have started a small garden of our own in our 30 sq ft balcony

Modi's policies of keeping prices in check by going after the hoarders and middlemen. Remember, for example, potatoes at the farm sell for approx Rs 5 per kg and sold by middlemen for Rs 15 to 20, making a 400% profit!
