On February 4, CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd. CSR Ziyang received a contract L/C from Pakistan, implying the launch of the purchase contract for 50 locomotives, marking the number of countries to which the company exported locomotives has increased to 23, thus further enhancing the international impact of "CSR manufacturing".

According to sources, the 50 locomotives include 25 2,000hp-2,500hp trunk diesel engines and 25 3,000hp-3,500hp trunk diesel engines. With a maximum speed of 120km/h and 140km/h respectively, the two models are applicable to passenger transport and cargo transport on trunk lines. Under the contract, CSR Ziyang planned to deliver the first batch of 10 locomotives in late 2013 and the rest in late May 2014.

CSR has exported nearly 600 locomotives to 22 countries in Asia, Africa, America and Oceania. After inquiring of CSR Ziyang''s export locomotive customers, Pakistan Railway Corporation under the Ministry of Railways of Pakistan signed an order for 50 locomotives with the company in view of its rich export experience, outstanding product quality, stable operations of products and timely after services.

Located in South Asia, Pakistan has a tropical climate and a maximum ambient temperature of 55 Celsius degrees, is dusty, windy, dry and scarce of water, posing a harsh environment for locomotive operations. Under the contract, CSR Ziyang will conduct a field investigation into the operation environment to develop and manufacture quality locomotives for the customer.

Please note Pakistan also has got into contract for Locomotives from South Korea (50 Used Locomotives bringing the total of 100 Locomotives Addition planned in 2014)

Based on the posting on the corporate site of Chinese company (CSR) , the deal is on , which is why the news is relevant

Deliveries are expected January 2014 - June 2014, 50 Locomotives

This Chinese company (CSR) is different then the other company which provided the earlier Locomotives.

After I found the evidence of the deal is still 'ON' is why I posted the link and reference to the corporate site for Chinese company.

The other Chinese company ( is also working on getting things sorted out on repairs of its previously provided locomotives (Separate deal for repair of locomotives) - Dongfang Electric Corporation, provided

Triumphant news has kept pouring in for China CSR on Pakistani locomotive market. On July 2, the advance payment of the second batch of eight locomotives purchased by Pakistan from CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd was paid and the purchase contract was officially launched. Since February of this year when the first batch of 50 locomotives order was started, it’s been five months and Pakistan again put a batch order for the company’s locomotives, which fully demonstrated the user’s great trust in “CSR Created”.

Over 600 locomotives of CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd has been exported to 23 countries. Due to excellent export performance, reliable product quality, stable running performance and efficient after-sales services, “CSR Created” locomotives have generated international brand effects and formed signing bill “chain effects” on overseas markets. In addition to the second batch order of Pakistan, the high-power alternating transmission diesel locomotives exported to Australia, and main line freight diesel locomotives exported to Kazakhstan by CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd before are all continuous signing bills.

It’s reported that there are two models in the first batch of 50 locomotives purchased by Pakistan: 25 main line diesel locomotives of 2,000 to 2,500 horsepower and 25 main line diesel locomotives of 3,000 to 3,500 horsepower. The second batch of 8 locomotives also has these two models and 4 locomotives for each model. The highest running speeds of the two models are respectively 120km/h and 140km/h. CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd goes all out for the research and development of the first batch of locomotives of the new order. On July 2, the designs of the two models came to an end and the production is expected to be started in middle of July.
