British and the French it did not actually care about the Ottomans. When the Ottomans collapsed they wanted the empire for themselves hence why they wanted to keep Russia out as long as they could until the 1900s is when things changed because for Britain the Russians were no longer a threat as the new threat was the German Empire. Britidh knew the Ottomans were going to collapse hence why it would be better to deal with russia on how to split the empire. Due to this Ottoman Empire pursued relations with Germany and Austria-Hungary. Ottomans and Austrians were enemies for centuries until a common enemy united them to be allies that was Russia of course.

Crimean war is what led to the full breakdown of the Austrian-Russian alliance. Austria no longer saw Russia as an Ally against the Ottomans now a threat due to its interests and ambitions in the Balkans.

Due to this the foundation of ww1 was laid.

If the Ottomans were strong enough and was able to overcome its loss in wars and territory to external and internal matters I really think ww1 could have been avoided. Because the decline and weakening of the Ottoman Empire was a factor in causing ww1. As the Ottoman Empire weakened this caused a power vacuum in which other powers wanted to takeover.
