The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) India office has praised the country’s handling of the Coronavirus pandemic including restricted symptomatic testing, Indian Express has reported.

This come at a time when the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) found no community transmission following random testing of 1,020 individuals showing symptoms of pneumonia and influenza. So far results of 500 of these samples are out and have tested negative. The results for the rest 520 will be determined today.

These samples were collected between 1 March and 15 March.

As a result of no community transmission, India has managed to curtail the coronavirus pandemic to stage 2 of the outbreak wherein the virus has only been transmitted via a human to human contact.
