You have a point but coronavirus is relatively poorly understood and there is no magic pill to cure it. If an individual's body is able to fight it out, good for the individual. If not, then the individual is toast - young or not. WE cannot take this FLU type lightly.

Per my understanding of viruses - there is no cure for them as such. Just ways to prep the immune system to fight it.

The recent corona virus is 20 to 30 times more deadly than common flu virus that you are talking about, the death rate of common flu is just 0.1 to 0.2 % among the infected patients whereas the death rate for modern corona virus is at the lower bound around 3.5% (2700 deaths from 77000) and it is likely to increase because the infections are still not resolved among the majority of the 77000 infected people. The most deadly aspect of the modern corona virus is that it has the ability to spread as quickly as the common flu from infected person to the others which makes it even more deadly than any other virus before it like SARS in 2002 to 2003 which was far less contagious than this recent COVID-19 corona virus. There is a reason why Chinese government is freaked out and has imposed complete lock down of the Hubei province in which the epicenter Wuhan is located which has never been the case for so-called "common flu virus".

I am not disputing that. What I am alluding to is that in terms of its fatality potential, it's not as effective as SARS lr MERS.

On the other hand, it’s possible that the true danger this virus is posing is this balance its striking between transmission and killing power as those qualities are assumed to be inversely proportional to each other.

In Afghanistan, this happened due to people normally going between China and Afghanistan.
