Pakistan has reported more than 4,000 coronavirus cases for a second day in a row after 4,027 infections were recorded during the last 24 hours.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre, 51,236 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours while nine more deaths were also recorded.

The total number of cases has risen to 1,324,147 and the death toll is 29,012, while the positivity is 7.8 per cent.

Breakdown of deaths and cases reported:

• Sindh: 2,677 cases, 1 death
• Punjab: 853 cases, 1 death
• Islamabad: 366 cases, 1 death
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 99 cases, 5 deaths
• Balochistan: 15 cases
• Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 11 cases
• Gilgit-Baltistan: 6 cases, 1 death

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported 5,034 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, pushing the countrywide tally of cases to 1,333,521.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), a total of 53,253 samples were tested, out of which 5,034 turned out to be positive at the positivity rate of 9.45 per cent.

Ten more patients of COVID-19 succumbed to the viral disease in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 29,029. The number of critical patients rose to 827.

Pakistan has conducted 24,239,761 tests so far to diagnose the deadly virus and 1,264,611 people have regained their health.

On Monday, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) decided against closing schools in light of rising cases of Covid-19.

Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar presided over a meeting of the NCOC that took stock of the current Covid-19 situation and mulled over restrictions to control the spread of the virus.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood and provincial education ministers attended the meeting via video link.

The country’s nerve centre for Covid response decided to begin large-scale Covid-19 testing at educational institutions. The decision on closure of schools will be taken after reviewing the case trend, it said.

ISLAMABAD: The country’s active Covid-19 cases crossed 100,000 mark for the first time since July 1, 2020 on Saturday when the country recorded 7,963 new cases.

According to the data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), as many as 7,963 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours after 70,389 tests were taken.

“The active case count stood at 104,095”, it added. The country recorded a positivity rate of 11.31 percent. This is the third consecutive day of Pakistan recording a positivity ratio above 11 percent.

Meanwhile, 27 deaths due to Covid-19 pushed the death toll to 29,219, said the NCOC data.

With the detection of new cases, the total number of positive cases has jumped to 1.41 million, said the NCOC.

The NCOC counted 1,276,719 total recoveries. However, 1,375 other patients are under critical care.

The NCOC has already extended coronavirus curbs in the country from January 31 till February 15, as thousands continue to contract the infection amid a spread of the Omicron variant.

The NCOC had imposed non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) on January 19, which were to be reviewed on January 27 in light of the Covid-19 situation in the country.

The restrictions for the wedding sector have also been imposed till February 15 to contain further spread of the pandemic.

Pakistan reports over 7,000 Covid cases for 4th day straight​

Pakistan has detected more than 7,000 new coronavirus infections for the fourth day in a row with 7,978 cases in the last 24 hours, along with 29 fatalities.

The national positivity rate stands at 12.46 per cent.

The breakdown in the last 24 hours is as follows:.............

• Punjab: 2,212 cases, 12 deaths
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,961 cases, 2 deaths
• Sindh: 1,827 cases, 12 deaths
• Islamabad: 1,270 cases
• Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 605 cases, 3 deaths
• Balochistan: 65 cases
• Gilgit-Baltistan: 38 cases

Drap allows sale of at-home Covid testing kits​

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan has allowed the sale of at-home Covid-19 testing kits in the country.

In this regard, the regulatory authority issued a notification, stating that self-testing is one of the strategies to reduce the chances of Covid-19 transmission...

"Therefore, the sale of such OTC (over-the-counter) testing devices is allowed at pharmacies/ medical stores," it added.

38 more people succumb to the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours​

ISLAMABAD: The number of daily COVID-19 infections continued to decline in Pakistan as the country logged 3,338 new cases during the last 24 hours, data from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) showed Monday morning.

As per the latest stats of the NCOC, the country’s COVID-19 positivity ratio dropped down to 7.45% in a single day. The official figures suggested that only 3,338 new infections were detected when 44,779 COVID-19 diagnostic tests were conducted nationwide during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases stands at 89,192 while the new cases pushed Pakistan's total coronavirus case count to 1,463,111.

After a slight decline for two days, the countrywide COVID-19 death rate saw an uptick as 38 more people lost their lives to the virus during the last 24 hours. This took the country's coronavirus death toll to 29,516.


Moreover, 4,905 people suffering from the disease recuperated overnight, marking a significant rise in the total number of recuperations reported so far.

Pakistan's Covid cases remain under 4,000 for 3rd day as positivity rate falls to 5.4pc​

Pakistan has detected 3,019 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, down from 3,498 a day earlier.
It also marks the third day that new infections have remained under 4,000. The positivity rate has been recorded at 5.4 per cent, compared to 6pc a day earlier.
The country also reported 44 more deaths, up from 39 yesterday.
The nationwide breakdown is as follows:

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 997 cases, 16 deaths

Pakistan reports less than 3,000 cases for fourth day, 40 more deaths​

Pakistan has reported 2,870 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, marking the fourth straight day that infections have remained under 3,000.
In the last 24 hours, 40 more people succumbed to the virus compared to 49 yesterday. The national positivity rate stands at 5.6 per cent.
The total caseload is now 1,494,293 while the death toll is 29,917.
The nationwide breakdown is as follows:

• Sindh: 1,013 cases, 9 deaths
• Punjab: 583 cases, 13 deaths
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 943 cases, 14 deaths
• Balochistan: 30 cases
• Islamabad: 141 cases, 1 death
