Cooperation isn’t loss of sovereignty
Says Indian high commissioner

STAR ONLINE REPORT

Bangladesh and India have to learn to work together, solve problems together, and cooperate together, Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran said at a meet-the-press in the capital on Wednesday. Photo: Star

The Indian High Commissioner here said Wednesday that cooperation between neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and India does not mean the loss of sovereignty.

“When we cooperate on a certain set of issues, it does not follow that via this cooperation, we somehow sacrifice our sovereignty,” Pankaj Saran said at a meet-the-press at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

India respects the sovereignty, the territorial integrity and the independence of Bangladesh, he said.

Pointing to the fact that India and Bangladesh are neighbours, the high commissioner said: “We are both here to stay. Neither of us is going anywhere. So, we have to learn to work together, to solve our problems together, and we have to cooperate together.”

“We both benefit from working together to maximise our gains and if we do this through a cooperative approach to problem solving, we both stand to gain.”

“Within this framework, I believe that there are a lot that we can do together,” Saran further said.

Cooperation isn’t loss of sovereignty
Says Indian high commissioner

So captain plannet has become indian mouthpiece now?
Indian definition of "cooperation" is handing over Bangladesh sovereignty or dictating on Bangladesh sovereignty through subservient regme like Awami League, this is as simple and there is no argument about it.

.
Cooperation does not mean that the deals would only go at the favour of master either.

. . .
Getting hostile with enemies of India is also a co-operation of Bangladesh.

Exactly..If BD like that everything with India is anti BD, then BD is simply contradicting to itself...Then as you told, being unfriendly to Pakistan is also kind of support to India too....Sometimes I see BD is very confused about how should it approach with its relation in South Asia.

.
Things will be fine if some Bangladeshi don't present themselves as east pakistani.

. . . . . . .
More co-operation b/w India and BD is needed. We have to realise the maximum potential of this fraandship.

PS: none of this would have been possible without the visionary leadership of Her excellency Ms Hasina. More power to her
