The cost of two divisions of S-300 missile systems is around $250-300 million.

Yeah, but it part of the package. Out of many missiles fired some eventually fail, this is true for all kinds of missiles. Actually S-300 are very safe since they are cold launched and only activate their main engine while up away from the launcher and personnel so any failure will not be catastrophic. If the missile is not cold launched type and fails on launching pad then everything will be destroyed on the ground. S-300 missiles are sealed rounds with a ten year expiry pretty much like rifle cartridges so probably these were old ones that they were firing for military excercises. It should not be very expensive though considering the fact that you can buy the whole system with multiple launchers, radars, control units and spare missiles for 150 million dollars. I guess maybe they cost one hundred thousand dollars each.

these missiles definetly cost more than half a million each!

AMRAAM is air borne and is an American missile. These are ground based and are Russian. Generally Russian stuff is several times cheaper than American stuff.
