Containers put at Karachi airport routes

KARACHI: Police on Wednesday put containers at several roads leading towards airports as a part of arrangements made at the arrival of Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

According to police sources, seven teams of bomb disposal squad have been formed from security point of view, which would give clearance to the convoys and handed over them to Benazir’s personal security wing.

Bomb disposal squad would also give clearance to the route of procession and public gathering venue. Only one road would remain open for Jinnah Terminal whereas other roads are going to be closed by putting containers.

The containers have already placed at the old airport road on Wednesday.

Police officials said that these measures have been taken to avoid any untoward incident because it is a matter of security of not only Benazir Bhutto but also thousands of other people who would be gather to welcome her.
 
Rangers assume security charge of Karachi Airport

KARACHI: Rangers have assumed charge of Karachi Airport security ahead of Benazir Bhutto’s scheduled arrival tomorrow (Thursday).

According to a spokesman 2500 Rangers men have been deployed at Karachi Airport.

Bomb disposal staff with dogs was also posted at the airport for checking. Top officials of Rangers have been present at the airport to meet any extraordinary situation.
