Construction of dams indispensable for Pakistan, says Imran Khan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has asserted that construction of dams in Pakistan is vital for the future generations of Pakistan.

In his address to nation on Friday, Imran Khan applauded Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar for launching dams funds in Pakistan.

Imran Khan in a message to the nation, asked overseas Pakistanis, especially those living in European countries and the United States to contribute at least $1000 in the fund created by Chief Justice of Pakistan.

“Wherever there are overseas Pakistanis-- the ones who helped me build Shaukat Khanum and Namal university-- I am appealing to you to help us build the dams.”

The PM said “Our debt today stands at 30,000 billion. But one of our biggest issues to date is the water issue. When Pakistan was made; every Pakistani had 5600 cubic metres of water. Today that stands at only 1000 cubic metres.”

Imran Khan went on to say storage capacity of only 30 days for water is left in Pakistan; whereas the safe period for water storage is 120 days. “This is why constructing the dam for us is so important.”

He said Pakistan could face drought like situation by 2025 if dams are not constructed now.

“If we don’t make the dam, experts say that we will not have money to grow our crop.... to feed our people. We can descend into chaos. So we need to start building this dam today.

He said Prime Minister's fund for dam would be now part of Chief Justice's fund and both will be merged.

I don't know if they have seen the study presented to the PPP government in 2010-2011 (Which actually went to a WAPDA official meeting status), and again given to the PMLN government during their most recent tenure, but the Pakistan Flood Control System is a well researched, on the ground, report painstaking pinpointing what can be done to not only solve the water crisis but manage surpluses in good years.

Fo the love of Allah and the people of Pakistan if anyone on here has the means to get that report in front of the Prime Minister I would personally be grateful. High end value added agriculture is the way Pakistan can competitively sell its products around the world, employ our masses of young people, build up our R&D industries and be one of the large stable food sources for the world, cementing our importance.

How to solve the labor and flood control issues at once; employ a lot of those young men to build out the irrigation system for the Pakistan Flood Control System, by Hand. It backbreaking work, but it will save us money importing expensive equipment, put people to work, and add value to the economy by having more arable land. with the PFCS the current 45 Million Acres of arable land will go to 70 million acres. That would mean 55% more agriculture output, and when you take in to consideration we are doing research with higher yielding wheat seeds (6000 kg per acre per CPEC R&D over the current 3000-4000) you can nearly double agricultural output and employ so many people.

watch this documentary; and see how human labor can be used to improve a region (we can do the same in many of our regions)

p.s. I Don't know personally know the author of the flood control system. I have talked to him a couple of times over the years, but this flood control project would be my one wish for the national development and employing our large young force.

Construction work on Officer colony of #Dasu Hydro Power Project is at its peak. Foundation already laid down for Offices and Categary-2 residential units.

It is expected that #WAPDA staff may shift to project colony in sep-2020. It is indeed an achievement by WAPDA staff, consultants and contractors who work day & night to contribute in resolving electricity problems by constructing a mega hydropower project in Pakistan.
