Computers will fight our battles: Kalam.

BANGALORE: “We must dream of a Mach 8-10 capable reusable cruise missile by 2016-2020, which have stealth capabilities and will deliver the payload at hypersonic speeds before returning to base,” said former president and eminent missile scientist A P J Abdul Kalam. Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the Centre for Excellence in High Speed Aerodynamics in the Indian Institute of Science Campus (IISc) here on Tuesday, he stated his vision of a reusable missile which would bring down the level of danger a pilot faces.

The Centre has been set up by BrahMos Aerospace in association with the IISc. Dr Pillai, BrahMos, gave a broad overview of the centre and stated that it will concentrate on Hypersonic research. “The aim is to consolidate all research being made in this field and this centre will attempt to do that,” he said. He added that the BrahMos 2 would look at indigenous engines and also underwater operations.

Kalam, later addressed another gathering at the inauguration of the Robert Bosch Centre for Research in Cyber Physical Systems, where he touched upon future trends in warfare and automotives. “Convergence is the future of warfare. Computers will fight our battles hence future soldiers must undergo virtual training.”

“You must also concentrate on developing fuel injection systems which can incorporate biofuels, this is the option we all will have to move to eventually,” the former President said.

If you have dreams every single night, maybe, sometime before 2020, one night you will dream of a Mach 8-10 capable reusable cruise missile.

In your dream, after the missile blows up, it automatically reassembles itself and flies back to base.

Are you sino challenger or cognitive challenged ? Wonder what will be your reaction if China developed such capability ?

A weapon that is not developed yet, but the man giving the ideas..
LEGEN--DARY!

He knows that its difficult to harness the current crop of fuels.. so he mentions the bio-fuels.

You have no goddam clue what he is saying... only blabbering like a silly fool...

He was obviously talking of reusable delivery systems...

Are you an indian ? The guy is legendary and ex-President, show some respect.

As far as what he is saying. Go and search HSTDV and yeah its progressing very nicely. The initial phases of Reusable Launch Vehicle-Technology Demonstrator of ISRO and HSTDV are same.

The Germans developed Stealth Jet engine planes in early '40s.

Americans developed a reusable rocket, the Space Shuttle, that was developed in the '70s and was used for 20 years 1981-2011.

I don't see why others cannot achieve similar milestone in 21st century. It can very much be a reality by 2020, provided there is enough dedication.

The man, Kalam, can never be judged by the "super-intellectual" trolls of PDF.

Kumbhkaran ki khopdi, bheem gaye utiraye.

After diplomatic trolling, congratulation on achieving unrivaled trolling standard in defense scientific community... re-usealable cruise missles which use bio fuels..ha ha ha..as if you have to part cruise missiles on the nearest petrol station for having them refilled!

And this "re-useable" part will be very useful in giving the enemy the where about of launch base where the attack originated from! And what if it comes under SAM attack?

President Camacho living up to his name..have you ever seen a photo of a space launch?? The rocket and Space Shutter are two different components..The shuttle is mounted on a rocket, while rocket is expended in the flight the shuttle remains with unused fuel which is then used for re-entry into the earth!

What makes Kalam a troll here is his attempt to look hi-fi and ahead of his time without proper logic. The idea of a reusable missile has been tried and tested, it is simply waste of time, fuel, money and resources when it is simply more cheaper in terms of fuel, engineering and logistics to fire and forget about a missile. Dont you think if the idea was really all that successful, the world defense powers such as USA, Russia, Europe, etc etc would already have it done?? Right now India struggles to make anything noticeable without foreign support and input. In 40 years, it couldn't ready the LCA and BrahMos as large is made with Russian contribution.

The Robert-Bosch center he went to open is German for god sake! Where is the Indian "incredible" and "Indigenous" engineering might?

The closes of a reusable cruise missle is a MIRV warhead, cannot be defined as truly reusable but it does have the ability attack multiple targets before the missile becomes expended.

Kalam is a scientist, and you are comman man. Understandably you didnt comprehend a thing he said.

Here try to understand as much as possible. Keep a dictionary by your side just in case...

Hi- how can a cruise missile deliver the payload and then return back to base?--
Dreaming is not bad- but should be logical-

Some Bozo... do you even know what is a rocket???? Living up to your name I see...

Even a Jr. High School kid knows the definition of a rocket. Quit bringing your level of intellect to this forum. Go find the definition, then come back.

Ah... don't tell me you think Space Shuttle is an airplane with jet engines

Well, anything can be expected of you... keep up the show :pop:
