Today I had an opportunity to meet a close relative of my friend. He is serving 2IC Major in Advance Infantry. He showed me his newly computerized ID card / Service Card. According to him they have started issuing the new computerized cards to infantry first, then it will be issued to artillery..and then it will be issued to other corps in steps. Also he showed me his Handgun issued to him recently, it was Turkish Sarsilmaz B6, black polymer. Taking about the new uniform with new camo, he said it would be issued soon. it was the same pattern COAS was seen wearing in his recent photos.
I asked him about the induction of new Assault rifle or SMG, he said there are no plans as of yet.

Edit: small mistake, there is no plan of new rifle or smg yet as claimed by the officer

Turkish Sarsilmaz B6 is a .45ACP pistol.

@balixd Did he say, it was a standard issue handgun for all infantry men?

The new SMG has been dropped, as always is the matter. And yes the cards are being issued now, but weren't they in service with GHQ personnel long ago?

I don't think so, ......something wierd happened just now, iwas standing at my local bakery, and this uncle g was there too, he got a call from someone and he also inquired the uncle g about cards. He was telling him that he himself don't know much but new cards are being issued at Transit Camp Rawalpindi.....he will get his soon

I was just thinking does it have something to do with mock testing for IT server few months ago regarding IT security?

What the heck is 'Advanced Infantry'? Never heard of it! :undecided:

Secondly isn't the Sarsilmaz B6 a 9mm pistol? Are personnel allowed to keep prohibited bores at home? Just asking.

I don't know if its the official designation but i have seen few people mentioning it, basically infantry trained in advance tactics and are paratroopers,
And yes b6 being issued is 9mm version, i mentioned it in my earlier post.
Army personnel can keep weapons at home given its their own be it a pistol or a ak47 and not the issued one.

COAS witnessed a demonstration by combat group of Light Commando Battalion. He also visited firing range and saw troops marksmanship in small arms. He appreciated their combat efficiency, physical fitness, agility and morale and stressed the need for rigorous training to attain optimum level of professional competence.

Light Commando Battalion's are being raised to perform Special Infantry roles or "Advanced Infantry" roles within our formations - freeing the Special Forces - to do Special Forces Operations - as per their mandate.

Looking at that video, it's basically GSF and QRF which are more trained and a bit more refined so that a efficient and quick response can be achieved, and more firepower can be provided without getting in SSG or something.

"LCB" will take up the role of specialized infantry in the PA - basically similar to US Army Rangers in the PA context - special missions such as capturing a key feature such as a mountain pass or bridge - trained to Special Forces level - the context is US Army Rangers, they have also been given some wonderful and colorful names.
