Complete destruction of Afghan Taliban not feasible: US General

Complete destruction of Afghan Taliban not feasible: US general
After 11 years of destructing Afghanistan they came up with this idea.

I'd like to point out that most of the bombings in schools are usually done by foreign militants (mainly Chechen and TTP in Afghanistan), and the acid attacks are mostly done by or with the knowledge of the family members of the girls in question. It's one of the reasons why the Taliban isn't actually on a foreign terrorist list in the US, because the US doesn't actually recognize the attackers as Taliban, but rather foreign militants working under Al-Qaeda.

Not really excusing the Taliban, but just saying (•_•)

Interesting.

You got these foreign militants bombing and killing innocent girls, while the Taliban just sits back and lets them do that. Look, I know about all the 0% in crime rate under the Taliban rule and what not. But the question comes down to this: The spotlight is on the Taliban, can they change their policies to become more 'modernized'?

I don't think it's as much that the Taliban lets them do it, as much as it is the Taliban not being able to do anything about it. With that logic, the government is equally guilty of letting these attacks happen, as the NATO/US troops.

The Afghan Talib consist of local militias that really really hate foreigners and northerners that they perceive to be invading their territory. They could be the most modern people in the world, and they'd still fight.

Why can't we just join the US and finish the Talibans off that were threatening our nation before US came to Afghanistan?

Iran has already secretely helped US to finnish off Taleban.

America sends its thanks for Iran's secret help. But Taliban are not finished off are they?

Come 2015, US will suddenly discover the good Taliban, the moderate ones you know which America will then feel obliged to arm to the teeth to fight a war of attrition with Iran.

Is that true, How?

Initially Iran provided air bases for the bombing of Afghanistan following 9/11 or so I have heard but as the relations got worse over the years Iran stopped. Also I read on an article here that Iran sells some medical supplies to ISAF troops especially for snake bites or something.

Warfare isn't what it used to be with conventional forces marching to an enemy's capital and getting an unconditional surrender. America learned that the hard way.

General Miller is only looking at the immediate future until the ISAF withdraws in 2014.

The battle with the Taliban is a long way from over, but if the Afghan government gets it's act straight they can slowly defeat the Taliban.

1) Economic development, less people who will be willing to fight for the taliban.
2) Education, decrease the influence.
3) Governance, get a handle on warlords, corruption, and patriarchy.

The Taliban can be defeated but it will take time. If only more personnel and materials were on the ground in the initial invasion much more of the leadership would have been 'taken care of'.

America is fighting to make sure terrorists don't have a safe heaven to organize from.

please don't regurgitate the liberal trash that angloamerican media mindlessly printed on paper and you mindlessly read somewhere: those catchy words like "education", "development" and "governance" are defunct political science words that don't solve any real problems in the real world. these words signify a form of angloamerican power as devious as its drones and brainwashed soldiers - and would instigate a form of native resistance as fierce as the resistance towards the deployed killers and military machines.

Will they still stay in Afghanistan after Nato's withdrawal? You know, our borders to them should be completely sealed. They haven't even finish them yet, that's the problem.

Obviously they know it isn't feasible thats the reason why they are creating further extremism in the region by continuing with their policy. And nobody supports the actions of the talibans but nobody even sends their own army against its own people and nobody lets their civilian population being droned for years resulting in increasing radicalization. If we couldn't raise our voice against the wrongs done to the tribal people who are joining the war against our country then we shouldn't complain about their actions either. Granting them justice and having the spine to say no when it comes to our people is the only way we can ever come anywhere close to peace.
