Collapse of the American empire

.
I am a fan of Tariq Ali, this is also a great talk to listen to

. .
World should come up with ideas to secure US nukes (in case of collapse) :D
What about those already missing from US arsenal?

Can't they anytime surface in the world as Pakistani non-secure nukes?

.
same talk in the sixties seventies eighties nineties 2000's 2010's when the economy of US tanked and yet here we are. US number 1 and fastest economic growth in decades

.
There are different kinds of "collapse". Some are saying the US Empire is collapsing but this doesn't mean the US homelands would collapse, a crisis might occur that would compel drastic action but full collapse is unlikely. Even an armed uprising wouldn't really be a collapse in itself.

When USSR dissolved and split into different nation states, the core of USSR which was Russia managed to recover most capabilities after a period of perpetual crisis. Nuclear arsenal and strategic bombers from other post-soviet states were secured and dismantled. Though Russia lost a generation of development of its military and scientific base and suffered immense brain drain, due to the previous mass of industrial and scientific wealth along with its wealth of natural resources, recovery was possible. Even if the US faced such a scenario, US would still be quite formidable internationally and be among the top nations but more retrenched than before in Eurasia. Even in this scenario, US would still be able to affect Eurasian geopolitics and act as an arbiter.

Some within the US recognize the decline of American influence upon the world but it would be unlikely to lead to a collapse of the American homelands. They are proposing a more organized approach to a pull back much like the British managed to achieve after WW1 and WW2, and relying more upon trusted allies to prop up a favorable world order. America under Trump is attempting to strengthen the homelands to weather an upcoming crisis and force a climate where core allies would get closer while other previous obligations becomes more transactional.

.
Like all empires in the past it is the Americans turn to bite the dust.

Nothing lasts forever our world changes. We had the Romans, Ottomans, Mongols, British, Arabs, Persians, Greeks, Mughals, Timurids, Spanish, Portuguese, Ming, Han and so many more empires that bit the dust.

Soviet Union collapsed should be a warning to the USA.

Very mature talk .... I really liked it

You do realize Chris Hedges is one of the guys who said back in November 2001 that Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11.

A NATION CHALLENGED: THE SCHOOL; Defectors Cite Iraqi Training For Terrorism

By CHRIS HEDGES

Two defectors from Iraqi intelligence said yesterday that they had worked for several years at a secret Iraqi government camp that had trained Islamic terrorists in rotations of five or six months since 1995.

They said the training in the camp, south of Baghdad, was aimed at carrying out attacks against neighboring countries and possibly Europe and the United States.

The defectors, one of whom was a lieutenant general and once one of the most senior officers in the Iraqi intelligence service, the Mukhabarat, said they did not know if the Islamic militants being trained at the camp, known as Salman Pak, were linked to Osama bin Laden.

They also said they had no knowledge of specific attacks carried out by the militants. But they insisted that those being trained as recently as last year were Islamic radicals from across the Middle East. An interview of the two men was set up by an Iraqi group that seeks the overthrow of President Saddam Hussein.

The defectors said they knew of a highly guarded compound within the camp where Iraqi scientists, led by a German, produced biological agents.

......

What is your point?

That since his belief on Saddam's involvement in 9/11 due to lies of false flagger CIA stooges was wrong, then everything he says must be wrong?

By that logic, no one in the US government must be believed because the US government and all their intelligence agencies and their military leadership + the whole western world also claimed (knowingly and willingly lied) that Iraq possessed WMDs.

He had an agenda and he found people who would say things to support it. I'm sure he ignored others who didn't say things that aligned with his thinking.

His article was even quoted by the Whitehouse. It could have supported the idea to invade Iraq.

.
Good to know that US government's decision to invade a country was based on a single newspaper article, I am sure all the 17 secret agencies were busy laying eggs of peace and prosperity at that time. Seems they have progressed more in to digital age now where a tweet should be enough.

The author is very right, it's the eroding social fabric which could cause the collapse of America. Americans here should listen to him and stop blaming China or Russia or any other country for their own failure

Don't forget to share a couple of hundred to India when securing U.S. nukes after the collapse. Maybe India can get an Ohio class submarine. Enough to blow up a hundred cities or so with one submarine.

Actually, there are many bounties that many countries would get when US collapses including F22, B-2s to Pornstars :) every country in the world will enjoy eating out America if it really happens.
