I've often thought though, that Afghanistan would have been better off under the Soviet puppet regime. As they say, Amin was a cruel leader compared to Karmal. Interesting from the video to hear the Soviet General saying that the invasion was to try and stop the spread of Islamic fundamentalism to the Southern borders of the Soviet Union.
