These Generals are at it again by making underhand, hanky-panky deals with the US again. 250 Million people of Pakistan suffered for decades from terrorism and US sponsored terrorists thanks to these exact Generals who decided to JOIN the US in war on terror. Thousands of Pakistan's Civilian, Police, and Soldiers have died and the economy is in tatters thanks to that decision. When will these generals be held accountable??

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa spoke to the US Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken on the phone on Wednesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including the latest developments in the Afghan peace process came under discussion. The two dignitaries also discussed bilateral cooperation in various fields, it said.

The Army Chief ensured Pakistan’s full support for the “Afghan-led, Afghan-owned” peace process that has a mutual consensus of all stakeholders.

According to the ISPR, the US Secretary of State commended Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to further enhance bilateral relations between both countries.

The phone call between the Pakistan Army Chief and the US Secretary of State holds significance in the backdrop of developments in the Afghan peace process.

It came a day after US President, Joe Biden announced the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan by September 11, 2020, marking the 20th anniversary of al Qaeda’s of 9/11 attacks that pushed America into its longest war.

The Secretary of State is set to meet NATO partners in Brussels on Wednesday. Speaking ahead of the meeting, the US secretary said that the moment has come to withdraw forces from Afghanistan. The US dignitary added that Washington looked forward to working with NATO allies on a "coordinated" pull-out.

This conversation is purely regarding future military planning of US regarding Afghanistan , and who well inform person could be then COAS of Pakistan . Don't be emotional . Russian FM met with COAS so you can say it was a bit related to that as well . Pakistani civilian govt has already created a lot of mess in last 3 years . Don't advise them to take another Panga with another institution .

Actually in diplomacy this is not abnormal. How it would work would be Dept of State would inform FO of this call and the reasons for it and FO would arrange. It would be a strange world if just Foreign Ministers talked to Foreign Ministers. In Pakistan we are sensitive about this due to US relations with Pak Mil dictators in teh past, but this is not uncommon.

You may well see Ambassadors meet COAS on a routine basis within Pakistan, like they do in many other countries simply to promote their countries military. Likewise our FO met with senior Chinese officers on his trip. As long as these are cleared by FO their is no problem and they lead to better and quicker diplomatic outcomes and better decision making. It is when FO is left completely in the dark that it becomes a problem.
