This is arguably good news, the American pubic (yours truly included) is tired of having their tax dollars burt in the Afghan pit and seeing their kids come home mangled while the Afghan elite line their pockets with our money.

Who knows, if his excellency Karzai stalls some more the zero option will gain a voice in Washington DC.

original article by cnn here, excerpts below:

Just 17% of those questioned say they support the 12-year-long war, down from 52% in December 2008. Opposition to the conflict now stands at 82%, up from 46% five years ago.

"Those numbers show the war in Afghanistan with far less support than other conflicts," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "Opposition to the Iraq war never got higher than 69% in CNN polling while U.S. troops were in that country, and while the Vietnam War was in progress, no more than six in 10 ever told Gallup's interviewers that war was a mistake."

Not sure if there any war thats popular...

eventually that popularity evades..
No surprise in that...

Popularity fades for those wars that are seen either seen as unjust or those that are being lost. Can you give us an example of fading popularity for a war that is critical for the country and that is being won.

I would have thought that Irak stole the show with the WMD thingy.

Donald Rumsfeld:

We know where they [Iraq's WMD] are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat....I would also add, we saw from the air that there were dozens of trucks that went into that facility after the existence of it became public in the press and they moved things out. They dispersed them and took them away. So there may be nothing left. I don't know that. But it's way too soon to know. The exploitation is just starting.

No they don't....no sane person would question US's getting involved in WW2...there are justified wars and people do support them!
