If I have gotten US citizenship do I have to give up Pakistani citizenship??

How would things work if Pakistani law recognizes dual citizenship but US law doesn't??

Much confused. Plz help.

congrats now you can become a parliamentarian in Pakistan.

How would you deal with tax issues?

you would face american law and pakistani law both.

it would have been easier to just get married

"Some jobs" require that you NOT be a dual citizen. In that case POC would help. You would have all the rights of a PK citizen without the ability to vote, or stand for public office.

Is PIA public office??

Hi,

In the US---no one will ask you that question---.

They only question you maybe asked---

are you legal to work in the US.

Once you have a job offer---you will fill out a form that will ask for your status---citizen, or etc---that is a fed govt form.

No one asks you about dual citizenship---unless you go into 'higher' security clearance reqd jobs---.

No actually you can vote. Overseas Pakistanis were always able to vote but they had to travel to Pakistan and register their vote

I voted in 2013. Now they no longer require to visit Pakistan as they can vote online after registering in the Pakistani embassy of their respective country

Overseas Pakistanis = National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
ex- Pakistanis = Pakistan Origin Card

Two different things.

.
So if I visit Pakistan and they ask me what should I say. Do I act like a US or PK citizen???
My parents say acting like a US citizen at Pak airports is always better???

Hi,

I don't know if it makes a difference or not---. But have both your passports nicop card ready

.
Ohhh come on dude. This dual citizenship thing is confusing me alot.
Travel on your US passport and present your NICOP when you enter PK.

With your NICOP, or POC (if you give up your Pakistani citizenship) you dont need a visa when you enter/ exit PK

any more confusions?

There is a difference, which I witnessed.

On a foreign passport with POC / NICOP you are called "Sir". On Green PP, you are called "BC"
