CID Report 22-Jan-2009: RAW will attack Sri Lankan cricket team

This was handed in to government by Additional Inspector General of the Crime Investigation Division, Punjab on 22nd January 2009 outlining the potential threat to the Sri Lankan team after interrogating RAW agents apprehended earlier. It outlines very briefly the following four points

1. It has reliably been learnt that “RAW” (Indian Intelligence Agency) has assigned its agents the task to target Sri Lankan Cricket Team during its current visit to Lahore, especially while traveling between the hotel and stadium or at the hotel during their stay
2. It is evident that RAW intends to show Pakistan as a security risk state for sports events particularly when European and India teams have already postponed their proposed visits considering it a high security risk to visit Pakistan.
3. RAW has also collected photographs of leaders of Jamaat-ud-Daawa (Proscribed) and its establishment to target them
4. Extreme vigilance and heightened security arrangements indicated

Why weren't the security beefed up after the intelligence report. The fact that you have intelligence you must beef up the security ASAP.

The fact that a SECRET document of the CID is available on the net indicates not much in the Dept is " secret".

The changed routes & timing the SL team the bus ought to have taken each day then too must be available ?

^^^ this report was shown on news channel, The security had been beefed up by Shahbaz Sharif when lankans were here for one dayers..but when governor took control of the punjab, he made some critical changes and removed all the officials who were looking into this matter. He also kept police and other security agencies buys for his political ambitions.....and RAW exploited that.

Now Governor is under immense pressure by opposition and they are asking for his resignation...but its very unlikely...never happend in the history of pakistan.

However you look at it, this was a huge and monumental security failure by the Pakistanis. A team of 2 vehicles of 6 men protecting a convoy of two buses (non bulletproof) . There were 12 terrorists who did not have any opposition except these brave men from Lahore Police (not even SSG)
Even if RAW was involved, their tasks were certainly made easier by this lack of security !

And yet our beloved president sb are making comment foolish comments about not negotiating with the talibans. We are chasing the wrong enemy here, India is the one who would take the most advantage out of this situation, why the **** does every GOP feels, it needs to keep quiet is beyond understanding, Musharraf was doing the same and this government is no exception either and even if NS was in place he would not have done anything different.
This is why i made a comment once earlier we need an extremist government in place, these so called moderates will going to destroy Pakistan in the aim of achieving self gains. Its pretty evident from now that the current government does not seem to be in the mood to highlight the real perpetrators and is convinced to shift the blame on the wrong side.

Why didn't the PPP & Zardari wait to make changes in Punjab when the game ended and Sri Lanka players went back to their country on the day they were supposed to leave.

Making a decision that caused protests for days all over Punjab during the same time we have guests in the heart of Punjab, from Sri Lanka who came to Pakistan to play cricket when other countries wouldn't....isn't a smart move made by Zardari and his PPP.

Maybe because it was de-classified after the attacks. You do not publish classified information on news channels and papers.
