There does seems to be a dangerous anti-Islamic trend recently. First the "Burn a Quran" fiasco and then this statement from a prominent Catholic priest. Who knows what may result from this!

As for a parent's quality of life, I think that isn't a matter as we know that parents always sacrifice for their children (or atleast in Islamic world- we tend to have big families). A lot of countries aren't obliged to support families. They do it themselves.

Off course parents have the responsibilty to raise their kids, give them everything they need etc, it is itself a sacrifice. I never say to abondan your kids. All i say is to have less children with less hastle and a good quality of life both for the kids and parents. Parents do sacrifice their lives, and at the same time they have the right for a good quality of life too. Once you have kids, then you know how it is to raise kids. More kids require more space and accommodaiton requirements etc. What is the point of 10 kids and all of them sleeping in the same room.

But remember: Families with a lot of children often have an even bigger extended family that will always help them.

This is happening in backwarded countries(leave the diplomacy for now), at the end of the day, they all end up living in the same house cuz they dont have their own, their wives and kids will be togheter, everyday fighting between the kids and wives, and eventually the brothers will become enemies. This have no any benefit. On the other hand, it puts alot of pressure on the state because of overpoupulation, this population explosion requires gov to provide more jobs, more homes, more resources etc , where will the poor gov find all these?

My father was the first to graduate in our family and got a respectable job. Some of his money contributed to bringing up all his smaller siblings, though quality of life didn't exactly decrease.

do you think it is good? i dont think so. all the money that your father earned was your adn your bros/sis money. but he had to share it with the others, becasue(probaly) the other guys didnt have money to support themselves or rent their own house. what if they your dad had less siblings? wasnt it good for you, your sis/bro and your mum? it always work like this in our sociiety, one or 2 guys work and the rest of the household is jobless.

They say the more the merrier. In our villages families are big, while in the west families tend to be small. There isn't a problem with either. Both types of families generally live good lives.

In the west you are forgetting those kids who have different fathers and mothers outside marriage bond. single moms ??
