Chinese Province Willing to Set Up a $15b Hi-Tech Park in Punjab

General Wang Jian— Director Bureau—Sichuan Geological & Natural Resources has said that they are willing to make a high technology industrial park amounting $15 billion in Punjab as the One Belt, One Road initiative as it would be opening up many opportunities for the people of both the countries in a number of divisions

During a visit to the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), Wang Jian mentioned that the formation of this hi-tech park is targeted on encouraging the partnerships as well as economic ties between the two countries—Pakistan and China.

He also informed that there are plans underway to start direct flights between Lahore and Chengdu, the capital of the province Sichuan.

He said that Punjab government is taking active part and measures for boosting investment and for creating an investment-friendly environment in the province. He remarked that China and Pakistan have always enjoyed long-term partnerships and share a mutual desire to further increase the bond.

Wang showed positivity relating the formation of mutual projects for maintainable development and economic advancement, adding that such collaborations are taking nations into a completely new domain of advancement and creativity.

A detailed and thorough discussion relating the current and new potential projects was held between the PBIT team and the Chinese delegation.

Jahanzed Burana—CEO-PBIT speaking on the occasion said that Punjab is being offered multiple investment opportunities as it is an ideal destination and the most developed province of the country along with extensive workforce.

He especially highlighted the investment openings present in the division of mineral mining.

He also pointed out the benefits that the investors could have and mentioned the steps taken by Punjab government for making a favorable business environment. He assured complete facilitation to the delegation in terms of cooperation and resources for the feasibility analysis of the hi-tech industrial park venture.
 
The investor needs to give a lot more details and let the central government vet the proposal through Beijing and Islamabad, so Pakistan is not screwed over and it sours relations between the two nations.
