Chinese delegation arrives in Nepal for prospects of Economic Cooperation

KATHMANDU, NOV 05 - A political delegation of the CPC (Communist Party of China) headed by Liu Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and mayor of Beijing arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday on a four-day visit.

Immediately after the arrival, delegation-level talks were held at Hotel Everest where Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha was leading the Nepali side.

During the talks, Nepali side reiterated its commitment to One-China policy and vowed a better relation with China that the Chinese side appreciated.

The meeting also dwelt on possible high-level visits from both sides in the near future, prospects of economic cooperation, particularly some infrastructure related projects that China was interested to invest in, a foreign ministry source said.

Liu will meet President Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, leaders of major political parties and senior government officials on Sunday.

On Monday, the Chinese team will leave for Lumbini and will visit Bhaktapaur Durbar Square before returning home the next day.
