‘China’s control of Coronavirus is a lesson worth emulating’

“CHINA’S aggressive measures have slowed down the epidemic of Coronavirus. It is only because of the China’s bold approach to tackle the epidemic, the overflowing hospitals in China with COVID-19 patients now have empty beds,” said Amit Vinay Waikar, Senior Vice President Asia, Doehler Food and Beverage Ingredients Company Limited based in Shanghai. “ I am the witness of how the first case of Coronavirus was detected in China and how the Chinese Government had taken many bold steps to control this deadly new respiratory pathogen.

Though, the entire media has created a hype about Coronavirus, China Government has initiated rapid action to curb the same. Now, the fact is, hundreds of thousands of people in China remain unaffected of COVID-19 because of its aggressive response,” he added. Waikar, son of Dr Vinay Waikar from city, was in India to attend 6th India Ideas Conclave 2020 at Tent City, Narmada, Gujarat. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ at his city residence, Waikar said, “What media reports are showing about the condition of China is far from ground reality.

One must admire the sense of responsibility and collective action on war-footing to get things done.” Stating that there was no need to create panic about the epidemic, Waikar pointed out, “Wuhan, the hardest hit city in China, has population of 9,083,500 at the end of 2019. The confirmed cases in Wuhan were 49,315 out of which 2,227 were dead. This means just 0.0245 percent patients were dead and out of them 80 percent patients were above 80 years of age. On February 10, there were 2478 new cases reported in China, two weeks later the number dropped to 409 cases and on March 1, only 206 new cases were reported.

Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu are other cities in China where the cases were reported after Wuhan.” Waikar mentioned, “People should not create panic. Coronavirus is just like a common flu with new medical name. Fever, dry cough, running nose are common symptoms.” Elaborating on the efforts taken by the Chinese Government, Waikar said, “China had put at least 50 million people under a mandatory quarantine since January 23 in Wuhan and nearby cities in Hubei province. It had effectively prevented further exportation of infected individuals to rest of the country. In other regions of mainland China, people voluntarily quarantined and were monitored by appointed leaders in neighborhood.”

“Chinese authorities built two dedicated hospitals in Wuhan in just one week. Healthcare workers from all over China were sent to the outbreak centre. The Government launched an unprecedented effort to trace contacts of confirmed cases. In Wuhan alone more than 1800 teams of five or more people traced tens of thousands of contacts.” Waikar termed the steps taken by the authorities as a lesson for other countries. “Two widely used mobile apps AliPay and WeChat, which in recent years had replaced cash in China, helped enforce the restrictions, because they had allowed the Government to keep track on people’s movements and event stop people with confirmed infections from traveling. Also no businessman in China had taken undue advantage of this epidemic by increasing prices of medicines or other household items. Countries like India should learn many things from China about how to control an epidemic,” he added.

No it is not, it worked for China because China is not evil and not run by a bunch of psychopathic warmongers who think of solving everything with a bullet.

Having sane and rational people solve an issue is completely different than the family of MS-13 trying to solve the same issue. Best for that gang of thugs and killers to not get involved and to not have any plan.

No plan is better than a plan devised by warmongering thugs.
