China’s BYD Has No Plans to Challenge Tesla in US Anytime Soon

Well somehow those Europeans, Koreans, and Japanese have pulled it off...maybe they aren't easy quitters.

BYD has been doing well and will do fine without the US market. Risk is the major factor in considering any investment and right now the political risk is just too great for any Chinese company to invest in the US. Matter fact reaching prominence in the US would even jeopardize its established business in Europe as the US would put pressure on European states to attack the company. Decoupling from the US is a necessary step for major Chinese companies.

.
BYD has to be an idiot to even think about setting foot in US. US will ban them and nationalise their resources and tech in the name of national security the moment it starts shipping in some volumes.

LOL! I guess all the other Chinese owned companies that sell in the US (including BYD) are full of stupid idiots.

BYD proves they are full of idiots:

A tour through the BYD electric bus plant in California

How's the BYD plants in Pakistan and India?

They already have a bus manufacturing plant

Maybe you didn't read the article you posted.
Since buying the 106,000-square-foot vacant building that once housed a motorhome manufacturing facility in 2013, it has expanded the facility to over a half-million square feet

That was well before trump started his anti-Chinese rants and Biden continued with that.
In India it doesn't make sense for BYD to open any plants as they hardly make any sales. BYD Atto 3 barely sells 500-odd units per month. They just have a small plant for CKD units.
Like I said BYD will be stupid to invest in anything new in US. We all know how that will go, we have enough examples of that.

We all know how American react when they start to lose money. Enough evidence during competition with Japanese during 1980/90's. Forget huge geopolitical stuff like EV, even laundry business showed how low US can go. Those were American citizens, I am pretty sure they will do worse to non-US businesses.

American are descendent of colonial settler regime with inherent vice & thievery in their culture & mind, the moment they start losing the game they will smear, mame ,ban and steal .

. . .
Thats because BYD hardly competes with Tesla in China. They have no chance of competing in US.

Yes. Back then the political risk is nowhere near today's level. A bus manufacturing plant with 500 employees is a small investment, but a full distribution network for consumer vehicles would be a major investment that is simply too risky to take at this point. BYD and Chinese companies in general should focus on developing other markets around the world instead throwing their money away.

. .
The US is increasingly becoming an insecure, paranoid country that seeks to ban any competition instead of having the confidence to actually compete.
They got most of their advantages by being incredibly lucky to dodge two world wars and thus became a safe haven for global capital and top talents. Outcompeting others on equal footings was never their secret to success.

I don't remember China fighting in World War 1...other than digging ditches while we were fighting on the lines.

In fact you weren't fighting that well in World War 2 either. How many Japanese warships bigger than a torpedo boat or little 1500T Destroyer did you sink? Any battles on any Japanese territory?

US homeland was untouched while the other industrial powers got reduced to rubbles. Incredible luck.
