Comparing that to anything else is not smart.

Let's say the Chinese government is incompetent and killed 56 million people, shouldn't that give India a massive head start? Shouldn't India be far ahead by now?

Why do I need to look up? I know the history better than you who could only quote Wikipedia. Those persecuted during Cultural revolution were sent to re-education, notwithstanding clashes that broke out. Most death toll were from famine. Your Hindu caste system enslaved and killed more people over time.

And why would this day not be glorious? Rise from famine and political upheaval to become 2nd largest economy, lifting millions out of poverty. India still ranked at the bottom of Hunger Index below N. Korea, largest poverty rate, highest stunt growth and child mortality rate. And lower caste still get raped and killed. That's the Reality.
