China, Vietnam make border progress
China and Vietnam signed a package of agreements on the demarcation of their 1,300-km land boundary yesterday.
Vice-Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and his Vietnamese counterpart Ho Xuan Son inked the deals on behalf of their governments. Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the ceremony.
The two vice-foreign ministers said the countries will try to solve the issue of the correct location of their border at sea through diplomatic negotiations.
They also agreed to jointly maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
